The Caterers Full Buffet Review
Well that was exactly it when I got to experience with The Caterers!
and today, I will be reviewing their Buffet Menu A that cost $12.72/Pax ($13.61 W/GST) with min. of 30 Pax
that consist of 8 Food Items +1 Drink.
Warning, read with caution as things are about to get spicy, literally!
1. Yang Chow Fried Rice
Everyone's favorite dish which comes in many different flavors and not to mention, different variations too.
This here is the Yong Chow Fried Rice that comes with Anchovies (Ikan Billies), shredded carrots, sweet corn,
green peas and lastly chili. The first thing that I notice was the chili as I never would have expect it to be there,
at least for this flavor. The dish wasn't oily with the anchovies but it lack salt and all I could taste was the spiciness of the chili
that overpowers every ingredient here so less is more.

2. Mee Goreng Istimewa-min.png/6000x4000.jpg)
Next dish we have is the Mee Goreng Istimewa. This dish is locally known among many locals here which
has ingredients including Anchovies, shredded carrots and dark soy sauce and chili.
The noodles are not as dry as I thought it would be but what was lacking was that there was
hardly any meat inside the noodles which let me down slightly.
Nonetheless, it is a good dish to try for events!

3. Crispy Boneless Thai Chicken
If you're craving for Thai food then get the Crispy Boneless Thai Chicken!
It's basically fried chicken with shredded carrots, onions, been sprouts and raisins.
Yes, you heard me they put in raisins with their chicken to give some sweetness to the chicken dish.
As I ate the chicken and raisin together, there was a balance of sweetness and a slight spicy after taste to it
so it was a good combination that they did! Although it didn't leave up to it's name,
I would definitely still recommend this!

4. Black Pepper Dory Fish
You've seen Fried Chicken but I would never knew that would be Fried Fish side by side!
Like the Crispy Boneless Thai Chicken, their Black Pepper Dory Fish is almost quite similar
to one another. The only difference is that this had bell peppers with lots of
seeds so it's also slightly spicy.
The fish was good with the spicy after taste, however the fish wasn't crispy as it was soft
and chewy as if the fish soaked up gravy so that left me disappointed.
Nonetheless, it was still tasty and peppery.
I recommend dipping it with mayonnaise to give more flavor.

5. Sotong Belado.png/6000x4000.jpg)
If you have eaten Hokkien Mee at hawker centers, you would have notice that there are squids(sotong) inside the dish.
This is the exact same ones which are dipped in spicy gravy, topped with cherry tomatoes, bell peppers
and extra chili.
The Sotong was squishy in texture and ends off with the spicy after taste to your taste buds.
Although it was spicy, it is one of the best seafood dish to ever indulge in!

6. Sayor Lodeh
Now I know what you're thinking. From a glance, it may look like Chicken Curry but in this case it isn't.
It is actually a vegetable stew dish that is cooked with rich coconut milk.
Originated from Indonesia, this dish consist a variety of vegetables with tofu, prawn etc
and adding in turmeric powder to give off the yellow color appearance.
I didn't eat the gravy with the vegetables but the gravy was good and not too filling for me.
It's a pretty decent dish after all the spicy galore so this gave me a break in between.
If you've never tried Indonesian Cuisine before, this is the one to get!
Rating: 4/5
7. Prawn Dates (Ngoh Hiang Ball)
It is usually made during important festivals and celebrations like weddings and Chinese New Year
as it signifies prosperity.
It almost felt like I was eating fried fish cake in terms of texture and it was not dry either.
I would recommend dipping it in any condiments so as to bring more flavor to the dish.
Rating: 4/5
8. Iced Jelly with Fruits Cocktail

perfect for huge party or even for cocktail parties!
There are many variations of this dessert so for this case, they added in logan.
Unfortunately, I could barely taste the sweetness of the jelly as if
it was almost diluted in flavor but the logan was good and chewy.
Overall, it's a dish that just needs a bit more sugar and it will be good to go!
Rating: 3.5/5

The Caterers have their Fruit Punch Cordial that will simply quench your thirst.
which will satisfy your guests!
Not a fan of Fruit Punch? you can always try other flavors including
Lime Cordial and Cranberry Cordial.
Rating: 4/5

The dishes were spicy which caught me by surprise as I've never encountered a spicy buffet
before. Nonetheless, it was a spicy experience which is perfect for the spicy lovers out there!
Of course for those minority who don't fancy this as much like me, there's always
the Fruit Punch Cordial, Ice Jelly with Fruit Cocktails and the Sayor Lodeh to enjoy!
