No one can resist free food, especially if it's delivered straight to your doorstep. On a rainy Friday in May, the FoodLine team received a wonderful surprise from one of our exclusive caterers, On & On Diners! On & On Diners has kindly supplied us a range of lunch bentos from their newest menu to try. Everyone on the team was excited to try out what they have prepared for us!

Our Review:
The Chicken Katsudon with Tonkatsu Sauce was seasoned well and it was really flavourful, with a mildly spicy twist! The Vegetable Oden is not the typical Japanese Oden and contains a good mix of mushrooms, white radishes and carrots. Although the dish looks slightly plain, the flavours are well-balanced and the carrots and radishes are sweet and fresh. All items were also cooked perfectly and the sweetness of the vegetables helped to balance the other savoury dishes in the bento. Also, one can never go wrong with salmon and teriyaki sauce! The Grilled Salmon was well coated with Teriyaki sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds, but it was not overly salty. The Seafood Croquette was on the starchy side, and could have been better if more seafood was added. Similarly, the Takoyaki Balls were a little soggy because they soaked up the sauce from the chicken but overall quite tasty. We expected only 1 ball since there were so many side dishes, but there were 3 instead. All in all, this bento was really generous and filling, a must try if you are a fan of Japanese cuisines!

Our Review:
The Grilled Chicken with Teriyaki sauce was extremely tender and juicy, and well-seasoned to boot! Really liked this dish and it paired very well with the Vegetable Oden. Usually teriyaki chicken tends to be a bit too sweet for me but this one was just right! We were very impressed with the generous helping of Saba Fish provided by On & On's. We expected a single thin slice and lots of bones but the bento contained two thick fillets that were boneless. Never enjoyed eating Saba Fish this much! Tempura Prawn was rather soggy, maybe because it was sitting on the rice. On & On's was once again generous with the portions, and gave two prawns! Overall the bento received praises from many, and is must try just like the previous Japanese bento!

Our Review:
The Seafood Fried Rice with Ebiko was cooked really well, the taste of the spices and pepper gave the rice a good kick! The ebiko and clams in the fried rice accentuated and complimented the flavours of the rice. The Sautéed Broccoli with Nameko Mushrooms was both crunchy and fresh, while the mushrooms were soft and chewy, a very refreshing dish. The smell of Curry Leaves from the Salted Egg Yolk Chicken was incredible, it is one of On & On's best selling dish. The next dish - Sweet & Sour Fish with Nata De Coco also paired very well with the Seafood Fried Rice. The Sweet & Sour sauce, when paired with the slightly salty fried rice, was just right. If you like spicy food, the Authentic Ma Po Toufu will suit you. The Buttery Cereal Prawns turned slightly soggy because of the condensation from the rice, but if it was crispy and warm it would surely be delicious!

Our Review:
The Kampong Fried Rice has a tinge of spice and stir fried to perfection. The Sambal Tauhu Goreng was both sweet and spicy to the right flavour! The Chicken Rendang was so good. Most places serve mutton rendang that is usually too tough to chew, but with chicken, the well spiced gravy seeped into the tender chicken, making the dish very delectable and aromatic. If you like satay, this dish is really similar! I really like spicy food, and this dish was my favourite. The fish from the Nonya Assam Fish with Seasonal Vegetables dish was fresh and the gravy was strong but aromatic and really spicy. Another mouth-watering dish is the Stewed Chicken with Spicy Tomato. Although it is on the sweet end, the spicy gravy covered up for the sweet chicken. Lastly, the Sambal Scallops is probably my favourite dish. The scallops were well covered with sambal gravy and easy to chew! Overall, this is one spicy hot bento but if you are enjoy sweating it out, this bento is for you!

Our Review:
Vegetarian meals need not be bland! This bento has a variety of different dishes - from Beancurd Prawn to Seafood Tofu and Black Pepper Chicken! The Beancurd Prawn is similar to the Chinese Ngoh Hiang, and is a good fit with the fried rice! The Fried Rice is vibrant, filled with peas, corn and carrot cubes, as well as mock meat. The rice was fragrant and delectable. The Baby Thai Kai Lan was crispy and fresh, not too oily or salty, and added a nutritional touch to the meal! The Cereal Prawn was also just the right amount of sweet and savoury, but would have been tastier if the mock meat was less dry. The Black Pepper Chicken with Capsicum was spicy and flavourful, and paired well with the capsicum. Although, it would be better if there was more black pepper sauce in the bento. The Seafood Tofu is surprisingly good, though the portion could have been bigger. All in all, the vegetarian bento was very filling and had a good variety!
