On top of this, bananas are also one of the best sources of vitamin B which helps the body to produce red blood cells, metabolise carbohydrates and fats, and to maintain a healthy nervous system. Bananas contain dietary fiber that provides many health benefits, including improved digestion. Some bananas, especially those newly-ripened ones, contain resistant starch that your small intestine does not digest. This resistant starch is used to aid in digestion in the long intestine which helps to promote healthy bowel movements. Having problems with your bowel movements lately? Last but not least, bananas contain potassium, a mineral that aids in blood pressure control that is crucial for heart health. However, most people often overlook the benefits of potassium which tends to lead to a deficiency of potassium in their diet. A banana will provide 320 - 400 mg of potassium which is about 10% of your daily potassium needs. Some food that are rich in potassium includes broccoli, spinach, potato, and mushrooms that you can incorporate into your diet, alongside bananas!
