Can the rain really make you sick?
I would like to believe most of us had heard about this when we were younger and forbidden to play at the playground when the rain clouds linger above us.
I specifically remember the times when I stare out of the window praying for the rain to stop sooner so I could be out and running about, what about you?
So, is it true that the rain can make us sick as what our parents said and fear?
Hereâs a little secret about me. Have you ever felt like skipping school? Yes, I have realized that it is a stupid thought as I grew older. So, in an attempt to do so, I have decided to walk home in the pouring rain, purposely putting my umbrella aside. Drenched by the time Iâm home, and then I waited a while before I showered and waited even more for the âmagicâ I thought would happen. NAĂVE. HAHAHA, I went to school as usual in the subsequent weeks.
Well, it is not entirely untrue, the rainwater is capable of making you ill. And so, does cold temperatures capable of weakening your immune system.
Rainwater is capable of carrying bacteria, parasites, viruses and chemicals that could make you sick! Even if it doesnât, the surfaces that the rainwater came in contact with before reaching you could carry bacteria.
However, the risk of getting ill from rainwater is also highly dependable on the location, season, and your immune system.
Who likes getting ill anyway? It feels terrible! Donât take the risk if you have the choice!
Do you know skipping your meals can make you feel terrible as well?
