The Cold Platter features a sumptuous variety of delicacies, including century eggs, ngoh hiang, shrimp, and more. These are excellent starters to get your reunion dinner started! Everything was cooked perfectly, but my favourite would be the ngoh hiang. It was crispy and fragrant!
Golden Pineapple Fried Rice 黄金黄莉炒饭
Pineapple fried rice is one of my favourite foods. Of all fried rices, it is my absolute favourite, and there are many different variations available. This dish from Hock Hoe Heng did not disappoint. This rendition is packed full of bite-sized chunks of pineapple that are juicy and sweet. The rice was cooked nicely and not clumpy at all!
Thai Style Grouper 泰式石斑
The chilli gave this Asian-inspired dish a burst of spicy, sweet and fresh flavour. When paired with rice, it makes a fantastic side dish. Despite being fried, the fish is not at all dry, and the meat's tenderness really won me over.
Salad Pork Floss Prawn 沙拉肉松虾球
The next dish is my favourite on the entire menu! The guests, especially the children, will love this salad of pork floss prawns. The prawns were juicy, firm, and tender. The addition of pork floss gave the dish a touch of sweetness which was delightful!
Four Treasure Stuffed Lettuce 四宝蔬菜
Shiitake mushrooms, dried scallop tau kee (fried tofu skin), and lettuce make up the dish. These components work well together to create a flavorful dish. The smokey flavour of the shiitake mushroom and the sweetness of the dried scallops and lettuce blend wonderfully together.
Crab Roe Fish Maw w Abalones (Soup) 蟹肉鱼鳔鲍鱼立
Fish maw is highly nutritious and rich in collagen, making it one of the most valuable components in Chinese cuisine along with abalone and sea cucumber. Many Chinese people think eating fish maw will help to improve their complexion! This soup has a plethora of premium ingredients that are sure to impress your guests!
HHH Yam Paste w Ginko Nuts 白果芋泥
Last but not least, a delectable creamy Teochew dessert made from nutrient-rich taro with the addition of ginkgo nuts to cap off the meal. Although I prefer this dish cooled on hot, humid days, the traditional way to eat this dessert is warm.
