Testing Out On & On Diners' $11.90 Buffet Spread
Let’s be real—ordering a buffet in Singapore is always a bit of a gamble. You’re usually praying the food doesn't turn up lukewarm, dry, or completely bland.
So when the team at On & On Diners sent over a full buffet setup from their $11.90/pax Buffet Menu via FoodLine, I wanted to see if it actually delivers. Here is my honest, no-gatekeeping breakdown of how the dishes tasted.
The Main Event: Dish-by-Dish Breakdown
Classic Yang Zhou Fried Rice Buffet fried rice can easily go wrong, but this one was actually good—fluffy, not too greasy, and had a decent amount of ingredients mixed in. It’s solid on its own, but here is the ultimate pro-tip: drench it in their curry chicken gravy. Seriously, just trust me on this. It completely changes the game.
Laksa Lemak Goreng (Dry Laksa) Okay, hands down my absolute favorite dish of the day. Instead of the usual soggy buffet noodles, this dry laksa was an absolute flavor bomb. The noodles completely soaked up all that rich, coconutty, shrimp-paste goodness. I would happily order a whole tray of just this.
Signature Nanyang Style Curry Chicken This is the "wet dish" every good buffet line needs. The chicken was super tender, the potatoes were soft, and the gravy had a really nice, rich depth to it without being aggressively spicy. And like I said... dump this over the fried rice immediately.
Duo Shuang Pin Fish (Salted Egg Yolk & Buttery Cereal Fish) I love that you get two flavors in one tray here. The cereal fish had a nice, sweet crunch, but the salted egg yolk side stole the show for me. It was super rich and savory, but somehow managed not to feel too heavy or cloying. You can keep eating it without getting tired of the flavor.
Signature Cai Poh Tofu This comes served with broccoli and Chinese mushrooms. The tofu itself was incredibly smooth and silky, and the savory cai poh (preserved radish) on top gave it a really nice salty kick that balanced out the mildness of the tofu.
Prawn Paste Wings & Grilled Chicken Satay Total crowd-pleasers. The prawn paste wings had that distinct, crispy har cheong gai crunch, and the satay had a really nice, smoky grilled flavor while staying juicy.
On & On Diners Party Platter A massive mix of cuttlefish balls, chicken gyoza, crabstick wu xiang, and curry samosas. It’s basically the ultimate "graze while you chat" platter. Super addictive and perfect for finger food.
Mini Chocolate Eclair & Vanilla Profiteroles Bite-sized pastries that hit the spot if you need a quick sugar fix. They weren't insanely sweet, which is a win in my book.
Chilled Ai Yu Jelly with Fruit Cocktail After dealing with all the rich meats and curry, this was a lifesaver. Super refreshing, cold, and a great palate cleanser to wash everything down.
Muscat Grape A surprisingly premium touch to end the meal! These grapes were incredibly crisp, sweet, and juicy. Way better than the standard fruit platters you usually get at buffets.
The Verdict - 4.5/5!
Honestly, I thought this was a pretty decent buffet spread. What I liked most was the balance—it didn't feel like just a bunch of random dishes thrown together. You get a genuinely good mix of comforting staples, hearty meats, rich curries, and lighter bites to pick at.
If you're planning a gathering and want something dependable that actually tastes good, On & On Diners is a solid bet. Just make sure the Laksa Lemak Goreng is on your final order list! Order now here.
