Viral TikTok Ramen Hack!
I know instant noodle isn’t the healthiest meal but it’s definitely a life saver when we’re too lazy to cook! This ramen hack which has gone viral in Japan turns your ordinary maggi into a bowl of ‘carbonara’. The recipe involves fortifying a bowl of instant noodle broth with an egg, some Japanese mayo and a clove of finely grated garlic.
How to make mayo egg ramen:
1. Take 1 packet of instant noodles and place just the noodles (no seasoning) in a small pot of boiling water.
2. While they cook, grab your serving bowl and add 1 egg, about 1 tbsp of Japanese mayonnaise, 1 clove of finely grated garlic, and the seasoning packet from your noodles. Mix well until smooth paste forms.
3. Once the noodles are ready, add them straight to your bowl with enough water to make a broth and quickly mix to emulsify the egg and mayo.
4. Top with any garnishes you like.
Taste test:
We ran out of eggs in the office so we weren’t able to do this recipe properly.. But overall the noodles were still flavourful from the mayonnaise and seasoning! The taste resembled a little bit like mentaiko sauce! If we added an egg in, it probably would have been less dry.
