What Happens When You Eat Too Fast?
According to new research, chewing through your food too quickly can lead to putting on weight and even trigger problems with your heart, so you may want to take more time over your next meal!
1. Weight gain

Properly chewing can help you avoid overeating. It takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to send a signal to your brain that it’s full. Chow down too fast, and you risk piling on extra calories before your body has a chance to signal that you don't actually need them!

2. Bloating and Indigestion

When you eat too fast, you swallow more air, which can cause bloating and gas. Taking larger bites and chewing your food less, will affect digestion. Slowing down to properly chew your food helps to break down larger particles of food into smaller ones, aiding digestion.
3. Diabetes

Fast eating in itself doesn’t cause type 2 diabetes. But it’s possible that habitually bolting down your food might give your body an extra nudge in that direction. Eating fast causes bigger glucose fluctuation, which can lead to insulin resistance!
4. Metabolic syndrome

Insulin resistance is closely related to metabolic syndrome — a cluster of factors that increase the risk of developing not only diabetes, but also heart disease and stroke. Did you know? Eating more whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, as well as exercising more, are various ways to reduce the risk of developing metabolic syndrome!
