A-One Signature Review - Bento Sets
We were lucky enough to be able to review A-One Signature’s bento sets, including 2 vegetarian bento sets! Their bento sets come in a plastic container that are divided into 4 sections, one for the rice, one main and 2 veggie sides. If you are still looking for caterers to order in during this period, A-One Signature might just be the one you are looking for! Read on to find out more!
Sesame Oil Chicken Bento Set

First up, we have the Sesame Oil Chicken Bento Set. The chicken is tender and flavourful! And even though it’s sesame oil, the dish it not too oily. Also, the long bean despite its looks, its actually pretty tasty! I am not the veggie kinda person but I ate it all… The other veggie side would be the broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and button mushrooms. And don’t worry they are well cooked, so its soft and yummy!

Gong Bao Chicken Rice Set

Next up, we have the Gong Bao Chicken Rice Set, which was my personal favourite. The flavours have been packed into the chicken cubes and it was very well marinated. It was a little salty if eaten on its own, but when you pair it with the rice, it was perfect! And even though they used dried chilli, it was not too spicy, but just enough to enjoy.

Salted Egg Prawn Bento Set

The Salted Egg Prawn was good too. Getting boring eh, everything seems to be good, but it is! The salted egg flavour was not too overpowering, and this is one of the rare instances where I didn’t feel that salted egg was too jelak. The prawns tasted fresh too!

Black Pepper Pork Slices Bento Set

Black Pepper. Luckily, the black pepper in this dish did not come on too strong so I could still taste and enjoy the pork slices. The texture of the pork slices was okay, it wasn’t tough, but it could be softer! Also, the long bean side dish in this bento had fried garlic on it and it just enhanced the flavour further!

Honey Sweet & Sour Pork Bento Set

This is the Honey Sweet & Sour Pork Bento Set. I realised that this is different from the regular sweet and sour pork that you get at your cai fan stall. The sweet and sour sauce is thicker, and most definitely sweeter. The sour taste is faint so for those that aren’t into sour food, this is just the right speed for you. This is one of my favourites!

Vegetarian Gong Bao Hericium Mushroom Set

Wait don’t go away… I know this is vegetarian. And I know it tastes nothing like real meat. But will you believe me if I said this was my 2nd favourite bento… This is the Gong Bao Hericium Mushroom bento set. Fun fact: Hericium Mushroom is also known as Lion’s mane mushrooms. And the texture of this mushroom is amazing. Like it’s so soft and the mushroom has absorbed the sauce and its jammed packed with flavour!

Vegetarian Gong Bao Chicken Set

This is the Vegetarian Gong Bao Chicken Set. I love the bite and tastiness of the mock chicken in the gong bao sauce. This bite and texture of the mock chicken is more similar to actual meat as compared to the hericium mushroom. If you are feeling adventurous and you want to give vegetarian food a go, this is a good place to start!
