Buey Tahan Seafood by Shi Fu Ge Review - More Ala Carte Dishes!

We’re back with yet another review (which means more yummy dishes, yay!) for Buey Tahan Seafood by Shi Fu Ge, and honestly, they’ve yet to let us down. Now may not be the best chance to head out, but it sure is a good time to order in and have some family time! What I like about Buey Tahan Seafood is the flexibility of their ala carte menu, which is perfect for a small family dinner, even for gatherings with less than 10 pax!

Fried Mee Sua

This honestly might be my favourite staple from Buey Tahan Seafood! At first glance, the Fried Mee Sua looked well-cooked and golden, and it sure did not disappoint. It has a slight wok taste, which I loved, and the texture of the noodles was neither too hard nor too soft and was even a little springy too. It may look plain but it was so flavourful, and I really couldn’t stop sneaking them into my mouth even after I was stuffed from the meal!

Honey Milk Chicken Cubes

A quality dish that NEVER disappoints, and when I say never, I truly meant it. I’ve reviewed this before (click here!), and it’s so good that I feel like I need to reiterate once more. Fragrant and yummy, the buttery flavour, creaminess and sweetness of the honey milk is a perfect medley of tastes that is so addictive, my colleagues and I couldn’t stop coming back for more. I’m definitely guilty of snacking some during the photoshoot too!

Honey Chicken Cubes

Another variation of the chicken cubes dish, the Honey Chicken Cubes is sweet and equally addictive like the Honey Milk Chicken Cubes. The chicken was tender on the inside but had a slight crunch on the outside, and when dipped with lots of honey it’s extremely enjoyable. Personally, I prefer the Honey Milk Chicken Cubes, but if you’re not a fan of milk, I’d highly recommend you try this!

Golden Sand Eggplant

An interesting taste, the golden sand eggplant is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. With a thin layer of batter, this dish feels light and simple. It’s not the heaviest dish, but it sure still was pretty appetising and yummy when paired with some staples from Buey Tahan Seafood!

Butter Sotong

Ooh la la. I’m not kidding, but the buttery aroma of the Butter Sotong got me salivating when it was first served to us. When you think of Butter Sotong, you’ll think of little cute circular deep-fried sotong, but let me tell you, given the generosity of Buey Tahan Seafood, this will never happen. The sotong was huge and when eaten together with the batter, the flavourful batter complemented the neutral taste of sotong really well. There was a good amount of batter as well, the kind that will not hinder you from enjoying the taste of the sotong.

Sambal Fish Fillet

A great pairing to any staple dish from Buey Tahan Seafood, the Sambal Fish Fillet is so fresh there isn’t even a tinge of fishiness in the meat! The sambal was sweet and not too spicy, so if you like spicy food but cannot take too much of it, go ahead and order the Sambal Fish Fillet. The dish could have a bit more depth or texture though, as I thought that having it by itself feels a little plain. Nonetheless, the sambal complemented the fish really well!

Scallop with Broccoli

Not your ordinary, vegetable-next-door dish, the scallop with broccoli is delicious with the right amount of flavourful gravy. The broccoli is neither hard nor soft, was cooked very well and when dipped with the gravy the burst of flavours was enough to keep stuffing myself with lots of broccoli. The quantity of scallop is generous and is definitely enough for everyone! Overall, a must-try!

Crab in da Bag

This time, I’m here to just say that the quality of the Crab in da Bag from Buey Tahan Seafood never depletes and has never disappointed me! The dish is fully packed with corn, potatoes and various shellfish and with their huge crab, this medley of yummy ingredients will never leave you hungry.
