Buey Tahan Seafood by Shi Fu Ge Review

I’ve been a fan of seafood, especially crabs for years but sometimes it gets a little inconvenient to gather everyone and head down to the eatery together. With Buey Tahan Seafood by Shi Fu Ge, specializing in unique seafood and tze char dishes, they now deliver right at your doorstep so you can get delicious tze char and seafood dishes without leaving your home!

This week, I’ll be reviewing some dishes by Buey Tahan Seafood and boy, was I blown away! Want to know my favourite dish? Read more below!

Crab in Da Bag Imperial Pot 帝国袋 (Normal)

Includes:

• 2x 600-700g Sri Lanka Crab
• 300g Prawns
• 300g Clams
• 300g Mussels
• 300g Corns
• 300g Potatoes

A diverse selection of seafood stuffed to the brim of the bag, the crab in da bag is a unique rendition of chilli crab by Buey Tahan Seafood as their sauce is lighter and wasn’t as thick as the usual chilli crab gravy. The taste of sweet corn was evident in the gravy which was quite a pleasant surprise as this made the gravy sweet and savoury. The size of crab was just right, it wasn’t too small and there was a generous portion of seafood, which I felt was perfect for a family of 3-5!

Crab in Da Bag Imperial Pot 帝国袋 (Salted Egg Crab)

Includes:

• 2x 600-700g Sri Lanka Crabs
• 300g Prawns
• 300g Clams
• 300g Mussels
• 300g Corns
• 300g Potatoes

A new flavour available now, the salted egg sauce was sweet as well. Perhaps, the sweet corns were cooked with the gravy which made the sauce pleasant and delicious. It was also light, and the sauce was full of that salted egg yolk “residue” which I enjoyed a lot as it felt that they had used quite a generous amount of salted egg yolk in their gravy. You can now enjoy the salted egg crab in the crab in da bag with a small top-up in price!

Bun 馒头

Freshly deep-fried, the buns were soft on the inside making it a perfect accompaniment to both the chilli crab and salted egg crab gravy. Remember to dip them in lots of gravy to enjoy it to the fullest! Yummy!

Thai-Style Fish Head 泰式鱼头

One thing that I can’t deny about this dish was that the fish head was huge! The sauce was tangy and spicy, which I felt was a good balance of both tastes. However, I felt that the fish was a little muddy for someone who is quite particular about the taste of fish (like me). If you’re not particular with that, you’ll definitely enjoy it as the sauce went really well with the fish!

3 Eggs Spinach 三皇苋菜

One of my favourites, spinach was sweet, the egg wasn’t too eggy which made it delicious and enjoyable.

Indonesia Claypot Prawns 印尼虾

The gravy was spicy and creamy, the prawns were fresh and big making it one of the more enjoyable dishes. If you’re a fan of drenching your gravy in rice, you should definitely try drenching this gravy on your rice as well!

Prawn Omelette 虾仁蛋

Delicious with a good amount of prawns in the omelette, Buey Tahan Seafood makes sure that everyone gets a slice of omelette with prawns in it!

Cai Poh Beancurd 菜莆豆腐

The beancurd was so soft on the inside, and with the cai poh on top it makes it savoury and tasty! The gravy was also surprisingly delicious and makes a good gravy for your rice if you can’t take the spiciness of the Indonesia Claypot Prawn gravy.

Honey Milk Chicken Cubes 奶油鸡丁

A favourite in FoodLine then, and still a favourite in FoodLine now. The perfect balance of sweet and salty makes it savoury and very addictive. It actually tastes a little like salted egg chicken, but sweeter and the gravy was waterier and milkier. This dish definitely proved the consistent quality of Buey Tahan Seafood, which isn’t easy for any catering services.

Silverfish Fried Rice 银鱼炒饭

The silverfish fried rice was aromatic with a good mix of tastes which I felt was a perfect dish if you’re too lazy to cook but still want something homey.

Black Bean Hor Fun 鼓汁河粉

Last but not least, the black bean hor fun was also one of my personal favourites! This was actually my first time trying black bean hor fun and I was really impressed. The gravy wasn’t extremely thick and was just right for me, the hor fun was soft and chewy which was delicious until the very last bite!
