Carmen’s Best Ice Cream review – Keep cool with these Sweet Treats!

We’re not new to waking up warm in Singapore’s mercilessly hot weather, even if your air-conditioner is on full blast and you sleep without a blanket. What better time to have some cold, creamy treats than on a scorching hot day after having your meal? With this perfect excuse to indulge in some good ol’ ice cream, we tried out 7 of Carmen’s Best Ice Cream’s little pints of happiness. We also created a video featuring some of our favourite flavours!

Here are the flavours we tried out:

• He’s Not Worth It!
• Butter Pecan
• Rocky Road
• Brown Butter Almond Butter
• Hokey Pokey
• Malted Milk
• Salted Caramel

After trying out the various flavours sent to us, these 4 flavours stood out the most in my eyes – He’s Not Worth It, Rocky Road, Hokey Pokey and Malted Milk.

He’s Not Worth It

This one is a personal favourite – the name first caught my eye and I decided to try it first. He may not be worth it, but this ice cream definitely is! With a rich dark chocolate ice cream base combined with Oreo cookie, pecans, walnuts, and swirls of thick caramel fudge, this won over my heart instantly. The dark chocolate base wasn’t at all bitter like what you’d normally expect but it wasn’t too sweet either! I especially loved the addition of the nuts, adding some crunch to this treat and providing extra dimensions to the overall flavour.

Rocky Road

Another chocolatey ice cream, Rocky Road reminds me of having hot chocolate with marshmallows on a cold, rainy day – but the cold version on a sunny day instead! This one had nuts in it as well, and I was surprised to bite into mini marshmallows while eating this ice cream. In my opinion, this flavour is very kid-friendly as well! If you’re hosting an event with children and want to order some icy treats, this is a safe choice to go with.

Hokey Pokey

Before this, I’ve personally never tried this flavour nor heard of it much in Singapore. So, I did a little research after tasting its creamy indulgence. A classic New Zealand ice cream flavour, Hokey Pokey is a vanilla ice cream combined with little but generous chunks of honeycomb toffee. These bits of honeycomb toffee added crunch, texture and its unique sweet taste to the ice cream! Now, we can enjoy New Zealand’s local favourites without stepping out of our little red dot.

Malted Milk

Carmen’s Best Ice Cream’s Malted Milk is one that will surely bring you down memory lane, with its familiar Horlicks-infused flavour that you might have had as a kid. As I ate the ice cream, I also tasted a few Maltesers chocolate balls – this addition brought the ice cream to the next level. I remember having Maltesers as a snack when I was younger, so having it combined with the Malted Milk ice cream was a little unexpected yet tasted so perfect together!
