Fun Facts about Food!

Calling out all Fun-Facts lovers. I am one, and if you aren’t you are kinda lame. I’m sorry but who wouldn’t love some random fun facts that will add no meaningful value to your life? Yes please. Also, people naturally love facts, so why wouldn’t they love FUN facts. Everybody would love to feel that much smarter within seconds. Especially when these facts are usually one­-liners.

On top of that, there’s already too many non-fun and serious things in life that we must deal with, so why add to the pile? I’d take a fun fact over any dish of seriousness any day of the week. So let’s begin, shall we?

1. Dry swallowing 1 teaspoon of sugar can cure hiccups.

Turns out you don’t always have to drink who knows how many auspicious mouthfuls of water. For those with a sweet tooth, maybe this would do the trick…

2. The fear of vegetables is called Lachanophobia
3. Stand a pineapple upside down to make it ripen faster.

4. A row of corn always has an even number. You can bet I will be counting the number of rows in my corn from now on.
5. 25% of the world’s hazelnuts are used to make Nutella.

Guess saying “Do you want some nuts?” has got to be scratched… Instead “Do you want some seeds?”

8. The world’s longest Popiah is 108m long. And yes that’s a record that Singapore is proud to have.
9. The apple stickers on apples are edible.

Having said that, please do not start eating apple stickers. But for those that have accidentally munched on some, relax, you are going to be fine.

10. A large group of pistachios can combust spontaneously! (this is my favourite fun fact)
