Good Chance Restaurant Review: Signature Hokkien Heritage Mini Buffet

This time we got to try the Signature Hokkien Heritage Mini Buffet set by Good Chance Restaurant! If you are looking for good traditional Chinese food, Good Chance Restaurant is way to go. One thing about Good Chance Restaurant is the feeling of home. Eating their food makes you feel like you are back at grandma’s for dinner, perfect for all ages. Let’s get this going!

Good Chance Signature Popiah Party Box

This is Good Chance’s Signature Popiah Box. It comes nicely organised in this box with all the ingredients. When you unfold the box, you will be greeted by a step by step instructions on how to assemble your popiah! So all you got to do is put your popiah together and the best thing about this is that you can make your popiah however you like it! If you are feeling fancy, you can add premium popiah toppings like XO Sausage, Sliced Prawn, or Handpicked Crabmeat!

Hokkien Crabmeat w Fish Maw Thick Soup

One of the more important dishes in a Chinese Restaurant would be the soup. The first dish that gets your appetite going. For Good Chance, they have the Hokkien Crabmeat with Fish Maw soup. This was delightful. The taste of fish maw is prominent, and they are generous with their ingredients, the egg, the mushrooms and crabmeat are super tasty!

Traditional Prawn Rolls

The traditional prawn rolls by Good Chance is easily one of my favourite dishes here. It is fragrant, meaty, and complements the sweet sauce perfectly. Everything you would want in a good prawn roll. I loved this so much, it should be a “roll” model for other prawn rolls, no kidding.

Crispy Prawn Paste Chicken

The Crispy Prawn Paste Chicken. Everyone loves a good chicken wing. What would they love more? And that would be this. Good Chance Crispy Prawn Paste Chicken. I know there are some prawn paste chickens where the taste of the prawn paste might be too overpowering and too salty and ruins the dish completely. Not in this case! This Crispy Prawn Paste Chicken just leaves you smacking your lips and wanting more!

Braised Fresh Angka Prawns w Tofu & Assorted Vegetables

When it came to this dish, I was afraid that it would be too salty. However, the gravy was just right and it brings the Angka Prawns, Tofu and the Assorted Vegetables together. The prawns tasted pretty fresh and the vegetables were soft and tasty!

Stir-Fried Dragon Chives w Enoki Mushroom & Beansprouts

The Stir-Fried Dragon Chives with Enoki Mushrooms and Beansprouts is a refreshing switch from the usual vegetables dishes you have at Chinese Restaurants. The chives are fragrant, but in my opinion, I think this dish is more geared towards the elders!

Slow Braised Pork Belly w Taro served w Pumpkin Bun

Yellow buns? Rarely ever come across a kong bak pao with a yellow Pumpkin Bun. Good Chance has a soft Slow Braised Pork Belly with Taro and served in a Pumpkin Bun. The bun is soft and fluffy and absorbs the gravy of the braised pork belly like a sponge, keeping the meat soft and moist!

Ah Gong Seafood Vermicelli

This is the Ah Gong Seafood Vermicelli, and true enough, it really does taste home-made. The noodles are mee-sua and it’s cooked just how I love my fried mee-sua to be. It is soft but not mushy. I prefer noodles to rice, so this was a great combination with the other dishes! I would highly recommend giving this a try!

Cream of Yam Paste w Coconut Milk

For dessert, we had the Yam Paste with Coconut Milk. A very traditional dessert in Chinese Restaurants, and a must try. The Yam Paste was not too sweet, and the coconut milk was light on the palette. However, the taste of the yam was a bit too faint, but the ginko nuts gave the dish a nice bite to it and overall, it was a great dish to end the meal.
