Le Xin Catering Group Review – Fuss-free Tingkat Meals

Whether you’re a busy adult hustling about 24/7, a sleep deprived student with loads of responsibilities, or simply just want to eat without the extra hassle of cooking and cleaning, why not try Tingkat meals? Well, Le Xin Catering Group’s Tingkat meals are here to save your tummy! No more countless nights of settling for cup noodles when your meals are delivered directly to you, at your convenience. 😊

What’s more? Le Xin Catering Group prides themselves in making food that contains no MSG, is low in cholesterol and salt, and uses pure vegetable oil. So, for all the health nuts out there, you need not worry about these Tingkat meals being too unhealthy!

For this review, they have generously provided us with the Deluxe Lunch Tingkat (with Rice) trial for 4 pax, to try out for 4 days. So, we did and here’s what we think!

Day 1

For Day 1, we received a colourful array of dishes (from left to right):

Sweet and Sour Pork, Loh Han Chye, Bak Kut Teh, Laksa Yong Tau Foo

A popular flavour amongst Chinese dishes, the Sweet & Sour Pork had a pleasant balance of both sweet and sour tastes without overshadowing each other. The bite-sized pork pieces were also tender underneath its crispy skin, which is always a plus point! On the other hand, the Loh Han Chye was well seasoned and thoroughly cooked. I liked that the dish had a variety of mixed vegetables, the different textures combining together added great bite to it!

As for the Bak Kut Teh, the sweet taste of the pork meat can be tasted in every sip and it had a mildly herbal taste to it. The Laksa Yong Tau Foo was also a superb dish, with the familiar aroma of Laksa and mildly spicy savoury taste which gave it a little more kick. I feel that this dish is a source of comfort food especially for us locals!

I also noted that although this Tingkat serving was meant for 4 people, it could easily feed up to 6 especially for those with smaller appetites!

Day 1 Favourite dish: Laksa Yong Tau Foo

Overall taste rating: 4/5

Day 2

For Day 2, we received the following yummy dishes (from left to right):

Tomato Egg Soup, Prawn Paste Chicken, Stir Fried Tau Kwa with Leek, Cabbage with Tanghoon

If you like the freshness and juiciness of tomatoes, you’d probably slurp down the Tomato Egg Soup! Being a lightly flavoured soup, it complements the other stronger flavoured dishes as well. The dishes delivered to us so far reminded me of those that you’d find at a Chinese economic rice stall, or even a Tze Char stall, which is both familiar and comforting. 😊

Being one of my favourite Tze Char dishes, the Prawn Paste Chicken was crispy and so deliciously savoury that even the health conscious would be tempted to take a bite of. This battered, deep-fried goodness was a treat to have for lunch, where this dish would normally have been eaten for dinner on a weekend with the family.

The Stir Fried Tau Kwa with Leek was tastefully prepared, with the mouth-watering gravy coating over the tau kwa and leek generously. The Cabbage with Tanghoon was a healthy addition to this meal, with the soft Tanghoon absorbing the natural sweetness of the cabbage and carrots which I liked!

Day 2 Favourite dish: Prawn Paste Chicken

Overall taste rating: 4.5/5

Day 3

For Day 3, we tried out the following delectable dishes (from left to right):

Salted Vegetable Duck Soup, Specialty Curry Slice Pork, Har Lok Prawn, Stir Fried Cabbage

The Salted Vegetable Duck Soup was the first duck meat dish that was delivered to us, and the taste and aroma of the duck meat was evident in the soup! We also received their Specialty Curry Slice Pork which I became a quick fan of. I feel that pork curry isn’t very commonly sold outside, so this came as a pleasant surprise to us! The curry was smooth and not watery, and the pork meat was tender enough without being tough. Safe to say, everyone who tried this liked it.

As an ever-loyal fan of prawn, I made sure to finish every bit of the saucy Har Lok Prawn, a classic Cantonese dish. The tantalizing sweetness of the prawns were retained as it was cooked with its shells intact, thus in my opinion, they’re worth the extra effort of peeling them! Yum. Not forgetting the greens, the Stir Fried Cabbage was simple yet tasty, its flavour sweet due to the cabbage’s natural taste, yet savoury at the same time.

Day 3 Favourite dish: Specialty Curry Slice Pork

Overall taste rating: 4/5

Day 4

For the last day of our Tingkat trial, we tried out the following dishes (from left to right):

Cereal Fish, Stir Fried Long Bean, Spring Onion and Ginger Chicken, Barley Chicken Soup

When I first saw the Cereal Fish, I was ecstatic – I couldn’t wait to try it as I never fail to order cereal meat dishes whenever I eat Tze Char outside, imagine my delight when I could have it for lunch! The savoury, sweet flakes of cereal blended well with the tender fish fillets, lending it its unique taste. Our team enjoyed this dish! The Stir Fried Long Bean was addictive as well, with its strong salty flavour and crunchy long beans. I went back for a second serving as it paired well with plain white rice!

The Spring Onion and Ginger Chicken reminded me of a similar dish my mother used to cook when I was little, so the familiar taste of this dish gave me feelings of nostalgia. It was warm, savoury, hearty, and most of all, possesses the sense of comfort that homecooked food brings to the meal. The Barley Chicken Soup ties this Tingkat meal together, containing goji berries (or wolfberries) and barley that added richness to the soup!

Day 4 Favourite dish: Cereal Fish

Overall taste rating: 4.5/5

All in all, we really enjoyed the Tingkat meals sent to us for these 4 days! If you would like to try them out too, simply click HERE to order 5 day trial for the Deluxe Lunch Tingkat, or HERE for all the food options Le Xin Catering Group caters for!
