Make Your Own Greek Yogurt
If you do not know the many health benefits of Greek yogurt, it’s about time you found out. With twice the protein, less sugar, and fewer carbs than the regular cow's milk yogurt, you should definitely try consuming Greek yogurt instead of your regular yogurt. However, it’s no doubt how things with better health benefits equals incurring more expenses.
But no worries, as I’ve got a solution for you. Time to make your own Greek yogurt. It will not only cost less than buying in stores, but it is also simple to make, so why not right? If you’re interested, read on to learn the recipe!
Ingredients:
- 1L Pure Fresh Milk
- 2 Scoops Plain Yogurt
- Warm Water
Equipments:
- Large Container
- Large Basin (used to fill warm water)
- Large Bowl
- Sieve
- Cotton Gauze
- Rubber Band
- Heavy Objects (able to be placed in refrigerator)
Steps:
- In a large container, pour fresh milk and add plain yogurt in
- Mix them well together and close the container with a lid once done
- Place container into large basin filled with warm water, letting it age for an hour
- Put a bowl underneath a sieve and place cotton gauze on top of sieve
- Pour the mixture into gauze, draining out the milk serum
- Tie up the gauze with a rubber band well so that it wouldn’t leak
- Place heavy objects with just enough pressure for the milk serum to be drained
- Cool in refrigerator for a day
- After a day, squeeze the gauze to get any access milk serum out
- The mixture in the gauze that turned dense is none other than your Greek yogurt
- Store the remaining Greek yogurt for up to at least two weeks!
I recommend you eat your Greek yogurt with fruits, nuts, snacks, honey and so on! It makes the tangy flavour nicer if you do not like how it tastes alone.
