Who loves some Taiwanese-style fried chicken? With the countless Taiwanese-style fried chicken chains in Singapore, I’m really surprised that we haven’t gotten bored of them yet. This week, we have Monga Fried Chicken with us and let me tell you that they’re about to change some perspectives on your usual Taiwanese-style fried chicken because they really did for me!
Signature Fries

The Signature Fries from Monga Fried Chicken was thick with batter and when you’re eating it, it really feels like you’re getting lots of potatoes in your system, which felt very satisfying for me. If you’re a sucker for thick batter and thick slices of potato like me, this is definitely a must-try.

Sweet Potato Fries & Plum Powder

An uncommon but pleasant combination of sweet and salty, the Sweet Potato Fries & Plum Powder was easily one of my favourites. For the sweet potato lovers, this will most probably be your favourite fries flavour. It’s also a good pairing for sides if you’re looking for a unique twist to ordinary fries!

Seaweed Fries

If you want something other than the Signature Fries but still don’t want to venture too far, the Seaweed Fries is for you. To be honest, there’s nothing unique about it but probably something I’d get just because Seaweed Fries feels like a comfortable flavour for me.

Fried Chicken Skin

Just, wow. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the Fried Chicken Skin is no ordinary snack. It may look simple and plain, but my mouth was bursting with flavours once I bit into it. The different textures you get when eating it surprisingly complement each other really well. The chicken skin was neither too salty nor oily either and easily tops my favourite item in this menu.

The King

Seriously, don’t belittle this plain-looking chicken because once you bite into it, you’ll notice straight away that the batter is different from the other Taiwanese-style fried chicken fillets out there. The chicken is thick and huge, and the batter is crunchy and sweet. There is also a unique taste to the batter, and that is because the chicken is marinated with honey and seasoned with salt and pepper, the key ingredients to its elevated flavour. With the size of the chicken almost as big as my head, it’s definitely going to fill your stomach to the brim.

Hot Chick

Don’t tell me that Monga Fried Chicken’s Hot Chick seasoning only consists of their hand-made chili paprika seasoning because how can it be so addictive? Like The King, Hot Chick’s thick and juicy chicken is the perfect pair to the crunchy batter and with the seasoning as the cherry on top, it’s heavenly. This is also going into the ‘must-try’ list!

Taiker

Though personally I felt that this wasn’t as delicious as the previous two flavoured chicken fillets, I really liked how there was a generous amount of seaweed powder given. Another amazing thing about this was that even though it was double-fried, it wasn’t greasy at all! It could be because I tried this after a long shoot, that I felt the chicken could be a little tastier, however, I was surprised at how the texture was still so tender even after leaving it out for so long.

Chee-z Signature

How does melted, stringy cheese on a crispy, thick fried chicken sounds? Trust me, the Chee-z Signature tastes exactly how it sounds, delicious! Best eaten when it’s piping hot, the generous amount of cheese is heaven for cheese lovers. Chee-z Signature feels like pizza to me, except that the base is fried chicken, and is definitely making its way into my ‘must-try’ list!

Monga Nuggets

To be honest, I expected smaller pieces of these nuggets but with the generosity of Monga Fried Chicken, we know that it’s never going to happen. I was quite impressed by the huge size of the Monga Nuggets! The meat was also juicy and tender, which is great for light snacking!

Monga Crispy Chicken

If you’re looking for something on the crispier side, the Monga Crispy Chicken is definitely for you! The crunchiness and tenderness are balanced so there isn’t too much of either and the seasoning was tasty as well which I liked.

Drinks

Flush away all that sinfulness with Monga Fried Chicken’s selection of drinks! For their flavoured green tea series, the Orange Green Tea and Grapefruit Green Tea are perfect for getting all that heat out of your system and the tanginess will definitely freshen you up! My personal favourite is the Orange Green Tea, as the perfect balance of sweet and tangy is really all you need to end your hearty snack. If you’re in for a more tart-flavoured drink, the Grapefruit Green Tea will be your cup of tea.

Looking for just a regular sweet drink? Monga Fried Chicken also offers Iced Green Tea, Iced Oolong Tea and Iced Jasmine Green Tea!
