Petite Joy Bakes Christmas Menu Review

It’s the most wonderful, and also my favourite time of the year because it’s a season of gathering, gift exchange and of course, feasting! For the past few weeks we’ve been bringing you Christmas buffet reviews and this week it’s time for the most important part of any feasting- ending your meal with some sweet treats!
We would like to thank Petite Joy Bakes for sending us their bakes because they really do look super cute and perfect for a merry snacking time!
Christmas Macarons

At first glance, these macarons look really pretty with their white and pink swirls and reminded me so much of Christmas candy canes! The macaron shell was chewy, sweet and because it was rose-flavoured, the shell has a subtle floral scent which was fragrant and smelled so good. The buttercream filling was smooth, creamy and wasn’t cloying which I thought went well with the rose-flavoured shell. This was one of my favourites from their Christmas collection as the taste reminded me of the bandung drink, which I felt was a unique local twist for Christmas.

Christmas Tree Cupcakes

These cupcakes looked like mini Christmas trees which I thought were so cute! The buttercream frosting was creamy, sweet and had a medium consistency which resulted in a light but firm texture and was quite enjoyable. It was also topped with a tiny star fondant and various shiny dragées at the top, which was really adorable! However, I felt that the base was a little too dry for my liking and would be more enjoyable if the base were to be fluffier.

Christmas Oreo Chocolate Malt Cupcakes

The texture of buttercream was similar to the Christmas Tree Cupcakes, but I felt that the Oreo flavour in the buttercream made it sweeter and more delicious than the Christmas Tree Cupcakes. The chocolate base was sweeter too and wasn’t as dry. This was overall yummier than the Christmas Tree Cupcakes for me!

Christmas Drip Cake

The star of Petite Joy Bakes Christmas collection, the Christmas Drip Cake not only looks lovely but also tastes delicious! Topped with gingerbread man fondant and candy canes, if you were to be more observant, you would realise that the chocolate drips on the cake have a splash of gold as well! What an attention for details! On a side note, the gingerbread man at the bottom of the cake looked like it was escaping with the candy cane and it tickled me so much!
The cake is a Valrhona chocolate cake filled with Valrhona chocolate buttercream with bites of tiny Valrhona crunchy chocolate pearls, which gave the cake a surprising mix of textures. On the outside, it is frosted with Madagascar vanilla buttercream, which was fluffy, light and slightly sweetened. Upon the first bite, the sponge of the cake is dense, rich and consistent in chocolate. It wasn’t cloying at all and the sweetness of the sponge complemented the velvety buttercream well. The Christmas Dip Cake was overall a very simple cake but stole the hearts of many in FoodLine!
