Post CNY Cleanse

Sadly, the 2-week long food marathon has come to an end. And that means an end to all the excuses you have given yourself, no more “it’s okay, it’s CNY!” or “aiyah its CNY, only once a year” excuses. All those, are out the window. Time to eat clean! Cleanse your body, get rid of all the steamboats, pineapple tarts, bak kwa, and more!
Clean eating can be tough, and especially so when it’s the complete opposite of the CNY diet you love and adore. To begin, eat less oily food, less salty, less sweet, basically less of everything that isn’t too good for you. Don’t worry if you feel overwhelmed, a little goes a long way, such as drinking more water during the day could help with this cleanse as well.

This tip is great. I’m telling you to eat more. Yes that’s right, eat more FRUITS and VEGETABLES! Fruits and vegetables are high in vitamins and minerals, and can help you fight inflammation. So get loaded up on fruits and vegetables to beat the heat!
Secondly, you should limit your alcohol consumption, now that the festive period is over. If you didn’t already know, alcohol is high in fat content, and that can increase the numbers on your weighing scale easily!
Thirdly, try to cut down on any sugary foods… and that includes your bubble tea. In the past 2 weeks I’ve had at least 2 to 3 cups per week. My goal is to cut it down to 1 every 2 weeks! If I can do it, I’m sure many of you can.

Lastly, try to avoid processed foods. If you think about it, most of the foods that you have eaten over the holidays has been processed food all along. Think about all the steamboat ingredients, all the fried finger foods… All processed. So for this cleansing period, try to avoid processed foods at all cost. There are chemicals in these processed foods, and that can make your body inflamed as well!
But most importantly, make sure that you drink lots of water. Make it an effort to remind yourself to constantly hydrate yourself and drink up! Water can rid your body of toxins, and make you feel more refreshed throughout the day!
