Rilassi (Thai Cuisine) Review - Authentic Tastes from the Land of Smiles!
Rilassi (Thai Cuisine) Review
Thai food has always been a hot favourite among many Singaporeans. The flavours of each dish is multidimensional; each dish has a good balance of sweetness and spiciness, coupled with the strong fragrance of herbs and spices! We were pleasantly surprised by our FoodLine Exclusive caterer Rilassi (used to be known as Thai Pavilion) who provided us with the Red Ruby Buffet!
Order the Red Ruby Buffet from Rilassi here!

We got a couple of dishes off the Red Ruby Menu because we didn't meet the minimum pax for the buffet. The list of dishes we received are down below:
Thai Mango Salad

The right balance of sour, sweet, salty and spicy can be tasted upon biting into the salad. The tanginess from the long thin strips of Thai green mango ,fresh herbs and spicy Thai chillies are tossed with a dressing made up of salty fish sauce, sweet honey (or palm sugar) and sour lime juice, giving rise to a very appetising salad. Crunchy peanuts add on just the right amount of flavour and wrap up this dish perfectly. Have this for the appetiser and whet your appetite for the other main dishes!
Pineapple Fried Rice

Pineapple Fried Rice is a classic go-to dish every time you visit a Thai restaurant. It pairs so well with spicy and sour side dishes. Plus, this particular dish came loaded with Fried Shallots and Chicken Floss, ingredients and flavours that you can just enjoy on its own. Many of us commented that the rice tasted especially well with the Tom Yum Soup, spicy with a tinge of sweetness from the pineapple chunks.
Salted Egg Chicken

A surprise coming from a Thai cuisine, but nonetheless very much welcomed! The chicken chunks were well coated with salted egg yolk, and tossed with curry leaves, further enhancing the aroma of the dish. The fragrance from the salted egg yolks easily made us salivate and leave us wanting for more. The meat was also tender and slightly crispy. This dish was very well received by my colleagues and was also polished off quickly.
Thai Style Steamed Fish Fillet

A very popular steamed fish dish in Thailand, served with a spicy Thai chili, garlic and lime slices. Usually, this dish is prepared with fresh fishes steamed whole, but fillets were used so that guests can easily help themselves to the fish without having to worry about bones! Red chili peppers are added mainly to increase vibrancy and a touch of spiciness while the tartness from the lime helps enhance the flavours of the dish. The fish was tender, and best of all, steamed fish is a very healthy meal suitable for anyone!
Onion Egg Omelette

A simple dish that tastes home-cooked and suitable for anyone, young or old! Although simple, it was nonetheless still a delicious dish with a familiar taste. As the egg was not fried with meat, it was also suitable for our not-so-strict vegetarian colleague!
Mixed Vegetable Deluxe

The broccoli and cauliflowers was bright and crunchy, and the gravy had just the right seasoning. The vegetables were cooked al dente and may be too crunchy for some, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. There were mushrooms and carrots together with the dish, a healthy and colourful addition to the buffet spread!
Homemade Pandan Chicken

Next up, we have the Pandan Leaf Chicken. The marinated boneless chicken meat was wrapped inside a large piece of pandan leaf and deep-fried. The subtle aroma of the leaves are infused into the tender chicken meat, and uniquely presented to the guests. Similar to other Thai restaurants out there, the pandan leaves were not removed by the chef so as to preserve the aroma of pandan within the chicken. It may seem troublesome, but the pandan leaf came off easily and we did not need much effort to get to our chicken! The chicken was well-marinated and very tender, comparable to other Thai restaurants. It was another of our hot favourites!
Tom Yum Seafood (Red)

Supremely hot, sour and fragrant Thai soup that had all of us drooling over it. Yes, that is none other than the Tom Yum Goong! This soup is ideal for banishing even the worst colds and combating the summer heat in Singapore. Filled with ingredients, the soup was flavourful and aromatic. You could smell the Tom Yam from afar! Although many commented that the soup can get a little too spicy for them, it was just nice eaten with the pineapple rice. If your guests are not a fan of spicy soups like this, you could probably ask for a less spicy version of it!
Thai Fish Cake

Thai Fish Cake, made of fresh fish paste is best eaten right out of the oil while they're still hot and juicy. Regretfully, we couldn't taste the fish cake piping hot,but it was still nice! For best experience, the Fish Cake should be eaten with the thai sweet chili dip provided!
Red Ruby with Coconut Milk

Red Ruby is one of the most famous Thai desserts, and is made of small, bite size cubes of reddish water chestnuts in syrup covered with tapioca flour and is usually served chilled with coconut milk and shaved ice. This dessert was sweet and refreshing and so apt for a hot day in sunny Singapore. This dessert is perfect for people with a sweet tooth, and it served as a good ending after the spicy Tom Yum Koong!
