Thinking of going vegan? Or love the idea of being a Vegan? Some people don’t know what veganism is, so let me give you a brief introduction, before you go hopping on the bandwagon entirely clueless.
So firstly, one question the curious population of ours would ask: Isn’t vegetarian and veganism the same? Honestly, same. That’s what I thought, I thought veganism was just a boujee term for vegetarian. I’m here to tell you that no, it’s not the same. Even though both vegans and vegetarians do not consume animals, vegans avoid animal products completely. Meaning to say that, vegetarians will still consume milk and eggs, but vegans do not. Vegans also try to refrain from all forms of animal cruelty, from food, clothing etc.
Fun fact: The spelling of “vegan” was formed by combining the first and last few letters of the word “vegetarian”. Fun.
So why then would people want to go vegan? Firstly, it could be an ethical reason: vegans believe that animals have the right to life and freedom, so they are against animal slaughter so that humans can consume their meat or their products. Secondly, some go vegan for health reasons. Having a plant-based diet can lower the risk of diabetes, cancer, heart disease and more!
Turning vegan can be overwhelming, so here are 3 simple recipes to get you started!
