Decent value & professional service. A few good dishes Reviewed on 26th Jun 2023 Verified Purchase Context: This is our first time catering food, apart from our wedding. We are avid cooks, and would usually cook for our gatherings, but had to cater this time cos we had Muslim friends over for a gathering. The food came in two large ... More insulation bags and the utensils came in another bag. It was professionally presented and we were pleasantly surprised that they even included serving ware (tongs and spatulas). Their delivery guy was courteous. He was probably in a rush, given that it was closer to dinner time, but still he was all smiles and efficient. Though the delivery came half an hour earlier than the appointed time, the food didn't go cold because of the insulation bags. That was a very thoughtful gesture which I thought reflected on the professionalism of Stamford Catering. Our guests were similarly impressed. The portion size was decent, but if we had full attendance (we were short of 2 people) or guests with bigger appetites, I think the food would've been not enough. Our guests loved the food, with the exception of the salted egg fish fillet and the almond bean curd with logan. The fish fillet was like 3/4 breading and 1/4 fish. The salted egg coating was generous, but probably to mask the tiny pieces of fish fillet. The almond bean curd was like 4/5 water with 1/5 bean curd + logan. Even when we dumped in TWO cans (of our own) of canned fruits, each scoop was still largely water with a few bits of fruit. That was a big disappointment (and anti-climactic), but thankfully our guests didn't have much of a sweet tooth. If I were asked to rank the food (in order of tastiness), that would be: 1. Mee goreng (fragrant, spicy and tangy at the same time) 2. Korean mid wings 3. Roasted chicken chop 4. Foo yong egg 6. Cauliflower & brocolli (nothing to shout about) 7. Spring roll (nothing to shout about) The remaining 2 dishes were bleh. The key things is, the food was good enough for our guests to like it, and not that bad that it would dominate the topic of conversation. We could enjoy our friend's company and the conversation. (min qty: 10 pax) Was impressed by: 1. Food selection - our guests particularly liked the fried egg noodles, curry vegetables, ... More wanton, oat cereal prawn 2. Value-for-money for a smaller party crowd But also faced the 3 points which could be improved: 1. Service - For desserts, I originally chose carrot cake. One day before the delivery, I was informed by the staff that it was not available and we agreed on chcocolate eclair instead. On the day of delivery, we received cheesecake. Was it a mix up? If it wasn't, I'm very confused what the purpose of the call was. 2. Service - Unfortunately, due to some human error there was a disruption to the flow of the party. This was because we received one dish less from the delivery man. The original delivery timing was alright (+10min) from our selected timing. However, due to this error, the remaining dish only arrived at 7.30pm after all the other dishes had been wiped out. The damage control was swift. However, it did disrupt the flow of the party. Hence, I am rating service a 3/5 to be fair. 3. Food - Mapo Tofu was too peppery/"numbing" for the crowd. It was the only dish which could not be finished.
