4 Home Remedies to Soothe Sore Throat
Many of you might be familiar with the home remedies listed below but do you know the reason behind? Well, if you don’t then you have to read on! These remedies have been tried, tested and proven to work for my case! Give them a try, especially if you’ve been eating the durians with the start of this durian season!

1) Honey
Honey, taken on its own or with tea is commonly used as household remedy for sore throat. Research have shown that honey is an effective wound healer, which helps with the healing of your sore throats! In addition, studies have also found that honey can be more useful than common cough medicine at controlling nighttime coughs!

2) Salt Water
Mix half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and gargle it every three hour or so. Gargling saltwater will reduce swelling and keep the throat clean, soothing it. In fact, it is also known to help kill bacteria in the throat.

3) Apple Cider Vinegar
If you sense a sore throat knocking on your door, try adding one or two tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar and gargle, then a small sip of the mixture. Do these 1 to 2 times per hour. Studies have found that Apple Cider Vinegar contains antimicrobial effects when fighting bacteria. Due to its acidic nature, it also helps to break down mucus in the throat to avoid bacteria from spreading.

4) Garlic
As all of you know, garlic also has antibacterial properties. The allicin (organosulfer compound) found in garlic is known for its ability to fight off infections. Try adding a fresh garlic to your diet as a way of gaining its antimicrobial properties. Perhaps try sucking on to a clove of garlic to soothe your sore throat. However, do remember to brush your teeth afterwards! In fact, regular intake of garlic supplements can prevent common cold virus!
