4 Unique Mooncake Flavours To Up Your Mid-Autumn Game

4 Unique Mooncake Flavours To Up Your Mid-Autumn Game

1st October is fast approaching and the mooncake scene in Singapore is the most bustling it has ever been. Bakeries and renowned hotels are coming up with new, unconventional, and creative mooncake collections. We all love a good traditional lotus paste mooncake. However, if you are bored of the usual traditional offerings, why not try these new and innovative offerings?

1. Milk Tea Mooncake

Royal Milk Tea Mini Mooncake / Furama RiverFront Singapore

There are already bubble tea ice cream, milk tea popcorn, and milk tea scented make-up. Are we at all surprised that milk tea inspired mooncakes exist? Hardly! If anything sweet, rich, and aromatic is up your alley, you’ll love indulging in the Royal Milk Tea flavoured mooncakes from Furama RiverFront Singapore. We imagine its milk tea lotus paste to taste like a nice, comforting cup of bubble tea.

2. Coriander Mooncake

Yes, this is real. Taiwanese coriander noodle brand Mr Coriander and Hong Kong bakery Qiu Xi has collaborated to create this unique "healthy" mooncake. It contains three types of cilantro in it. Apparently, it has a slight green tea flavour upon first bite. It is then followed by a burst of cilantro that is balanced with a tad of sweetness. This is only available in Hong Kong. However, if you are brave enough, you can include cilantro in your next mooncake recipe!

3. Acai Berry Snowskin Mooncake

Organic Snowskin Superfood Mooncakes / Bud Of Joy

This mooncake is possibly the healthiest you can find. Acai is known to be a superfood that is rich in anti-oxidants. The new acai berry snowskin offering from Bud Of Joy has a red bean filling with pumpkin seeds. To add on, for those on special diets, you will also be glad to know that their Organic Superfood Mooncakes are: Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Egg-free and Vegan.

4. Flaky Skin Pandan Mooncake

Cane Sugar Free Spiral Flaky Skin Pandan Mooncake / Delcie's

Pandan mooncakes? Yes please! Spiral pastry mooncakes are usually stuffed with yam and deep-fried, but not these. The flaky pastry consists of a lotus paste filling made with diabetic-friendly sugar substitute maltitol sweetener and fresh pandan juice.

Maybe it is time for us to step out of our comfort zone and try these unique mooncake flavours! If you are looking for more selection of mooncakes, you can check out this link! https://www.foodline.sg/mid-autumn
