5 Must-Have Food to Eat During This Deepavali

As a fan of Indian food, Deepavali is one of my favourite times to indulge in some delicious Indian treat! It may be a quiet Deepavali celebration this year, but who says you can't celebrate and enjoy the festivities to the fullest with your favourite treats. Not sure what to get for Deepavali this year? Samosas

Of course, a Deepavali meal cannot be complete without Samosas! These cute little savoury pastry treats are stuffed with potatoes and peas with spices like fennel seeds, cumin seeds, coriander powder, garam masala and more. Aloo Tikki

Literally translates to 'potato cutlet', Aloo Tikki is actually a popular street food in India, and also a popular snack among Indian cuisine lovers in Singapore! Made from boiled potatoes, peas, and spices like red chili powder, garam masala, and coriander powder, Aloo Tikki makes a great snack when you're having your loved ones over and catching up while munching on these.

Craving for something sweet after a hearty meal? You definitely do not want to miss the Gulab Jamun! A sweet snack from powdered milk, flour, baking powder, and ghee, it's amazing how these basic ingredients can come together to create such an amazing treat, especially for the ones who have a sweet tooth.

Achu Muruku

What I love about this Indian snack is that it's a simple yet beautiful snack, but the best part of it is that it's yummy! A sweet version of muruku, the Achu Muruku is made with coconut milk and is super addictive, which makes a perfect treat for snacking when having visitors over.

An extremely popular dish during Deepavali, the Kheer is a creamy rice pudding flavoured with cardamom and topped with chopped almonds and cashews. It's simple, but the added texture from the nuts give this dish an elevated layer as the crunchiness from the nuts makes the dish interesting and yummy.
