5 Dining Out Tips for This Season
We know, dining out these days may not be your go-to decision during mealtimes now. With the number of Covid-19 cases increasing daily, the idea of visiting any crowded area is something we are not comfortable with. This article is for you guys, especially for us working adults who still have to eat out during lunch, check out these 5 tips that would help you if you have to dine out!

1) Visit less crowded, more spacious and well ventilated coffee shops / restaurants
Social distancing is a non-pharmaceutical infection control action used to stop or slow down contagious disease. Better be safe than sorry, right? A well-ventilated space also allows good airflow which will help eliminate pollutants and bacteria build-ups. This is especially important during this current virus situation so you can also practice having good ventilation for your homes too!

2) Wash your hands before eating
Washing your hands may be your best bet to keep away not only viruses, but germs as well! Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer with you and use it if you are unable to find a wash basin. Donât assume that your sanitized hands will stay sanitized after you remove your mask to start eating, please sanitize them again!

3) Resist your urge to touch your hair and face
Oh no⌠that sudden itch⌠STOP IT RIGHT THERE! Despite sanitizing your hands, there may still be some viruses and germs on them from when you got in contact with unclean surfaces unknowingly. So, to be safe, resist that urge, wait it out, and voila! That itch should be gone by then.

4) Practice good hygiene when coughing or sneezing
Nope this is not about the stares youâll get. Haha. It is to avoid contamination of the food in front of you and to keep your bodily secretions from landing on an innocent bystander. You may use your hand or tissues to cover your mouth while you do so and donât forget to sanitize your hands after! Oh, and try to swallow your food first before talking. Lest pieces and bits of food land on your unassuming friend whoâs dining with you.

5) Use serving utensils
During this period, it is advised that we try to avoid sharing of food and it would be best if we could have our own individual portions when dining together. However, if you do not have the option for individual portions while dining with your colleagues, friends or family, do use a serving spoon for the dish. You may even bring your own utensils if you feel uncomfortable using the utensils provided.
This may be a dreadful and depressing period for some, but donât be upset! With the efforts made by everyone, I believe Singapore will pull through this and emerge victorious!
