In fact, research have shown that around 50% of people experience food cravings regularly. Which means, your efforts to eating healthy might be hampered.
Do you know that there are many healthier alternatives that can leave you feeling satisfied? Let me show you the top 5 of my favourite alternatives to my cravings (other than fruits)!

#1 Cold Drinks
I am sure this is some of our ultimate cravings! With the unbearable weather in Singapore, what’s better than a cup of ice-cold coke? Well, if you are craving for sugary soda, you might actually just be thirsty. But I do understand how boring regular water can be. Try unsweetened ice teas or carbonated water! Add lots of ice or slices of lemon, you can even add fruits to make it even fancier!

#2 Vegetable Chips
This is a great alternative if you are craving for potato chips! Vegetable chips like seaweed, kale or parsnips are healthier yet satisfying! However, some commercial brands on the shelves can be as high in calories, salt and fat as potato chips so be sure to check the nutritional table, or you can bake your own vegetable chips with the endless recipes online!

#3 Miso Soup
Try miso soup when you are having savoury cravings! The miso paste, is made by fermenting soy beans with salt, grains and koji (fungus). It is low in calories, a good source of protein, fiber, beneficial plant compounds as well as some vitamins and minerals! Studies have found out that women who regularly drink miso soup had a lower risk of breast cancer and stroke!

#4 Dark Chocolate
I love chocolates! You can switch your regular milk chocolates for a small amount of dark chocolate! Dark chocolates with at least 70% cocoa will not only fix that chocolate cravings you have but are also healthier. They contain high amounts of antioxidants! In fact, including it into your diet may reduce your risk of heart disease! Remember to do your portion control though, large amounts will add a lot of unnecessary sugar to your diet and might not have the same positive effects!

#5 Banana Ice Cream
Craving for icecream? Next time, try banana ice cream instead! Blend some ripe bananas and then freeze them. If you want more flavor, you can mix in some fruits or milk to make it more interesting! It is creamy and full of flavor, yet lower in calories and higher in fiber than regular ice cream!
Skipping meals can lead to unnecessary cravings! Remember to have your meals properly!
