5 Tips for Parents Working From Home
Never would you have expect to be put into a situation where you have to work and spend time with your kids simultaneously while at home. Well, at least not for more than a month.
I must say, I am impressed with all parents out there working hard and making sure their kids still continue to catch up with school work despite not attending school physically due to the Covid-19.
I know I might be a little late to provide these tips but I hope that these tips will still nevertheless, help make the rest of this trying times slightly easier!

#1 Have your own expectations
Productivity does not have to happen in your entire 8 working hours. You can finish up your work during “irregular hours” if you have to attend to your kids first. List down the things that you need to get it done for the day and get them completed every time you have your kids busy with something else.

#2 Wake up slightly earlier
Wake up slightly earlier than your kids, whether it is for household chores or for work, or even for some quiet alone time! Try to finish up some tasks and have an easier time later in the day. You may even fit in some work to complete once they are comfortably tucked in bed! Be friends with the 24 hours you have!

#3 Prioritize
I know it gets hard once everything starts piling up on your list of “to-dos”. Try prioritizing the task that needs to be done for that day. Make sure you focus on work that requires more time and focus first. Finish them and give your kids the attention they need and fit in some light work for the rest of the day.

#4 Get your family or friends to help
This is not what you think! Staying home and staying safe is still your priority. Help their grandparents get used to using video call and have some bonding time through the screen! You can also arrange video call with their friends as well! Have a drawing or coloring show-down or learn math together! Meanwhile, sit yourself down on your desk and do some work too!

#5 Set up activity corner
Make a necklace, build a Lego building, art & crafts. Anything you can think of! If they are older, make them compete at household chores and reward them accordingly! They will be looking forward to these activities and make your time easier! Make them learn that hard work will reap rewards, while you focus on your work! Triple win!
I know that it may be easier said than being done. But don’t give up! There are many ways to solve problems in life. Find the one that fits and it will be smooth sailing as ever. Changes will not adapt to you and only you can adapt to changes. It is okay to be tired, it is okay to be angry but push on and you’ll see the rewards you have reaped! Kudos to all parents out there battling this Covid-19!
