This type of fish is not only nutritious, but it also helps to improve your mood.  Fatty fish like salmon and albacore tuna are rich in two types of omega-3 fatty acids, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). These types of fatty acids are essential for the human body as it contributes to brain development.  On top of that, studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids help to lower depression levels and can improve a person's mood.

 

Fermented Food

If you're a person who loves kimchi, yogurt or kombucha, chances are you'll know about the fermentation process. This type of food is processed in a way where live bacteria are allowed to grow so that they can break down sugar into alcohol and acids and as a result, probiotics are created. Probiotics are live microorganism which helps to promote gut health and increase serotonin levels. The factor that affects a human's mood, stress responses, and appetite are all based on serotonin. Therefore, it's important to include them in your diet!

This vitamin is important as it helps to create neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) that can help to regulate a person's mood. Aside from its main benefit, it also helps to decrease high blood levels of amino acid homocysteine which is often linked to depression.

Do you know that oats are actually whole grains? Oats are rich in fiber which helps in slowing down the digestion of carbs resulting in a slow release of sugar into the bloodstream. The process of releasing sugar slowly plays an important role in stabilizing mood swings and irritation as it keeps your energy level stable. Research has shown that people who incorporate oats into their daily meals tend to feel better and have greater energy levels.

Coffee helps in the release of mood-boosting neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and norepinephrine which can help a person to feel better. Additionally, it also has caffeine which helps to increase a person's alertness and focus. Therefore, a person would generally feel better after drinking a cup of coffee. However, you should also drink coffee in moderation as too much intake of coffee would also affect your health.
