We all know that our diet matters and what we consume will affect our overall health. It's not just about food being nutritious or high in energy levels, but rather food that helps to improve brain functions should be taken into consideration as well. When we age, our brain neuron and brain cells start to deteriorate which could increase the risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. To lower the risk, here are some types of food that can help to boost your brainpower to keep your brain active and healthy.

Olive Oil

According to a study, olive oil helps to improve learning and memory which helps to combat Alzheimer's disease. On top of that, it's beneficial for your heart as it is healthy, and positive cardiovascular health is known to strengthen the brain's health. It's also easy to incorporate them into your meals as you can use it for all sorts of dishes! This includes stir-frying with olive oil, using it as a salad dressing, or pouring a tablespoon of olive oil into your soup.

Salmon

Salmon contains a nutrient called omega-3 fatty acid, and these acids help to keep the brain sharp and are unique, as our body can't produce them on their own. Therefore, the only way of getting them is by consuming food like salmon, sardines, and anchovies which are great sources of omega-3 fatty acid.

Berries

Berries contain a substance known as antioxidants which play a crucial part in the brain's health. Antioxidants help to clean free radicals in the human body, including the brain. This helps to reverse some symptoms of aging such as brain loss. Similar to salmon's omega-3 fatty acid, our body can't produce this substance on our own. Thus, it is important to incorporate them into your meals to improve your brain health.

Kale

Kale is a nutritional powerhouse; it contains 45 different kinds of flavonoids that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Antioxidants are great substances to aid in your brain health. Aside from these benefits, Kale is also rich in Vitamin K which helps to improve a person's memory. It sure does sound like a dream to have so many benefits embedded into one plant!

Cauliflower

Cauliflower is a vegetable that is rich in folate and antioxidants which helps to improve brain functions. It’s delicious and healthy properties makes it a great vegetable to incorporate into your meal!

In conclusion, it's important to have a diet that can aid in protecting and strengthening your brain health, as most substances like omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants can't be produced in our own body. By eating the food mentioned above, you'll reap the benefits of a healthier diet and improved cognitive capabilities.
