5 Ways to Cook Your Cauliflower

5 Ways to Cook Your Cauliflower

Do you know that there are more ways to cook cauliflower than the usual ways you see in the Cai Png (Mix Veg Rice) Stall? Cauliflowers are so underrated in the world and are often the shadow of the superfood: broccoli!

Cauliflower itself also carries anticancer, antioxidant, antibiotic and antiviral characteristics!

Some of these I’ve personally tried and loved it! So, give it a try too!

#1 Cauliflower Pizza Crust

This recipe is one that I have tried before, and something my family approves!

You can steam the cauliflower florets or cook them on medium heat over a pan. Once cooked, you may remove excess water from the cauliflower with cheesecloth for a crispier crust (optional). Then, add some seasoning as well as parmesan for flavour, knead them to your favourable consistency and spread them on a oven tray as you do for a regular pizza. Place the tray in the oven for 15-20 mins.

After the crust is slightly cooler, go on to add toppings of your choice, pop them into the oven for another 10 minutes, and VOILA!

#2 Cauliflower and Cheese

Cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets and bake 20-25 minutes till golden brown and tender, then add in your pasta, cheese sauce, some scallions, your favourite cheese and into the oven you go! This dish will be as delicious as mac and cheese yet providing a nutritional boost!

#3 Cauliflower Fried Rice

Another one I tried before! Put your cauliflower into a food processor and pulse it till you get the rice-like size. And the rest is, all the same, you do as an everyday fried rice dish! Oh, a personal tip from me, you can get the marinated meat from the supermarket and add it in too, I’ve tried it with black pepper chicken and yums!

For those who find processing the florets into rice like size to be a chore, they do sell frozen pre-packed cauliflower rice in the supermarket too!

#4 Cauliflower Steak

Cut your cauliflower vertically into steak-like thickness, add seasoning of your choice and bake it till golden and tender on both sides! Yep, that’s it, so easy isn’t it!

#5 Cauliflower Mash

Want some hot mash potato while you Netflix and chill at home, but realise you’ve had too many carbs throughout the day? Then you ought to try this! Cook (steam or in water), drain and mash it with a fork or potato masher till it’s as smooth as possible. Then under low heat, add butter, milk, and some herbs into the mashed cauliflower and bam! Your healthy, hot and steamy dish to accompany while you chill!

Quick buy a cauliflower and try it out today! No worries you can thank me later! Haha!

Well, I know it’s impossible to eat just cauliflower every day right?!
