Fei Xiang Catering Xmas Menu Review - Scrumptious Mini Party Set!

Xmas is in 21 days and I’m so excited! It’s the season of giving, celebrating and of course - eating! From the title, you already know what this article is about - Xmas Menu! This festive season, Fei Xiang Catering has launched their Xmas Mini Party Menus and we have reviewed 9 dishes from their Xmas Party Set A! Read on to find out what we think about each dish!

Olive Fried Rice w Chicken Floss

First of all, let’s talk about the overall visuals of this dish first - the olive fried rice has plenty of ‘liao’ in it, which brings out colour and makes the fried rice look very visually appealing! For tastewise, this dish was beyond my expectations and without realising it, this was one of the few dishes among all that I kept going for more! I really liked how the olive brought out the flavours of the fried rice and the fragrant chicken floss gave the olive fried rice a fluffy, cotton-candy texture when eaten together.

Broccoli w Mushroom

Broccoli and mushroom - a combination that will never go wrong! Judging from the name of the dish, you’ll probably only expect 2 ingredients, broccoli and mushroom and that was what I thought as well. However, there were also shrimps, carrots and goji berries! It’s a healthy dish but does not taste bland because it’s covered in sauce so you won’t have to worry about that.

Thai Style Dressing Fish

This dish was really delicious! The fish was fried so the skin was really crispy and the fish meat itself was tender. It’s also not very oily so it can be eaten on its own without the Thai dressing. However, eating it with the Thai dressing makes the fish more fragrant and flavourful. It gives a sweet and sour taste and it really complements the fish. I really ain’t lying when I say this dish was really delicious!

Crispy Cocktail Spring Roll

Spring roll - a classic yet makes-you-want-more kind of appetiser. This spring roll, just like its name, was super crispy at first bite. It wasn’t greasy despite it being fried as well and most importantly, it does not make you feel ‘jelak’ even after eating a lot. Think I ate more than 6 spring rolls in one setting but I don’t regret the calories because it was really yummy!

Japan Tokyo Yakitori

If you don’t know, Yakitori is a Japanese type of skewered chicken. It is grilled over a charcoal fire hence the chicken has this grilled taste! As I was able to bring the chicken skewers around, it’s perfect as a snack after your Xmas dinner since you can just conveniently bring it around with you while mingling with your loved ones!

X’mas Chicken Honey Baked Ham

During Christmas, honey baked ham is a commonly eaten dish over the years hence it has become a must eat dish during this festive season! This particular honey baked ham has a sweet yet smoky flavour and the sesame dressing that comes with it gives a more flavourful taste to the chicken meat.

Crispy Butter Prawn w Mayo Dip

I was really looking forward to this crispy butter prawn the most and I must say - it did not disappoint me! When I bit into the butter prawn, it was super crispy and the prawn inside was really tender. Once again, albeit fried, it wasn’t greasy or oily at all. This dish also comes with mayo dip, and adds a tangy flavour if you eat them together!

Classic Mini Chocolate Eclairs

What’s a better way than to end off your scrumptious Xmas dinner with sweet treats? This chocolate eclair is filled with lots of cream as it oozes out when you bite it! It does not taste very sweet, so it is suitable for people who do not like sweet stuff!

Ice Cocktail w Lychee

Lastly, for dessert - we had an ice cocktail with lychee. The rich and tropical flavor of lychee can be tasted in the cocktail and there’s something about this dessert that makes you want more! Fei Xiang was also generous in their toppings and gave plenty of lychees, yay!

My favourite dish will hands down be the crispy butter prawn with mayo dip. In fact, as I’m writing this review, I’m really craving for it right now!
