Fresher Dinners Review – Chilled Tingkat?!
Fresher Dinners aims to offer a refreshed experience from the traditional tingkat. Built for the modern consumers, their dinner subscriptions are great for those who look forward to having a good meal with their families after a long day at work or those who don’t have time to cook or prepare dinners. Not only do their consumers get to enjoy a delicious tasting international menu, but they also benefit from unparalleled convenience and flexibility when choosing their dinners!
We were sent three sets of tingkat meals from three different cuisines. The food sent to us were all chilled, so we had to heat them up before consuming. Remember to read the instructions on the packaging! Without further ado, let’s get started with the review!
1. Chinese Cuisine
Emperor Herbal Chicken, One-Pot Pumpkin Mushroom Rice, Stir-Fried Broccoli with Mock Abalone

A dish that is favoured by the young and old, the Emperor Herbal Chicken is both healthy and extremely flavourful! It is a simple but delicious dish of marinated chicken wrapped and steamed with Chinese herbs. The chicken had a natural and authentic herbal taste, with a delicate and fragrant aroma from the well-brewed chicken essence.
I am a huge fan of Pumpkin Rice and this dish definitely didn’t disappoint! The rice had a light and fluffy texture. The pumpkin is sweet and blends well with the savoury mushrooms. The dish is extra fragrant with the addition of fried shallots!
Lastly, the Stir-Fried Broccoli was just the right amount of crunchiness! The sauce certainly complemented the dish. Not to forget, the Mock Abalone’s texture is close enough to emulate the texture of an actual abalone.
2. Korean Cuisine
Kimchi Relish Chicken, Japchae, Yachaejeon with Gochujang Mayo

If you love flavourful food as much as I do, the Kimchi Relish Chicken is definitely a must-try for you! The kimchi instantly boosted the flavour of the chicken and even added extra umami. The chicken was tender and not tough at all!
Japchae is also known as a stir-fry Korean sweet potato noodle. It had a nice balance of sweet and savoury, with a bouncy noodle texture. The vegetables were crunchy, giving the dish extra levels of texture!
Last but not least, we had the Yachaejeon (also known as Korean vegetable pancake)! The pancakes were crispy on the outside, soft and moist in the middle, and chock-full of fresh lightly cooked vegetables. The pancakes came with a side of Gochujang mayo (red chilli paste + mayo). The slight kick of spice really went well with the dish!
3. American Cuisine
72-Hours Smoky Beef Brisket Sandwich, Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, Home-Style Tomato Basil Soup

The Beef Brisket was moist, tender, and full of honest-to-goodness smoke flavour! The meat could be torn apart easily, while still giving you a meaty bite and juicy texture. The sauce and caramelised onions tied the sandwich together really nicely. Overall, very well executed!
The breading on the Mozzarella Cheese Sticks was well-seasoned and evident in each bite but stopped short of overwhelming the mozzarella flavour. Once we heated up the mozzarella sticks, the cheese inside began to ooze. It was really satisfying and addictive to eat!
The Tomato Basil Soup had a truly unique flavour element that allows it to truly delight the taste buds, while still having that traditional tomato taste that everyone loves. I would truly recommend this to anyone and everyone thinking of trying it! I dipped my Mozzarella Cheese Sticks in the soup and they went really well with one another.
Overall rating: 4/5
