Hock Hoe Heng CNY Menu Review - Lou Yu Sheng Season!

As we are nearing the end of 2020 in a few days, it also means that CNY is coming. Hock Hoe Heng has therefore kindly sent over their CNY Party Set B, which includes Prosperity Yu Sheng w Abalones in it, for review! Read on to find out what we think about the food!

Prosperity Yu Sheng w Abalones 发财鱼生 (+鲍鱼)

First of all, what’s CNY without the Yu Sheng? This is the season to lou as many yu sheng as you possibly can! Hock Hoe Heng’s CNY Party Set B includes a Prosperity Yu Sheng w Abalones! After we lou-ed and mixed everything together, the combination of the various condiments really brought out the flavour of the fish, vegetables and abalones as they got marinated by the dressing.

Yang Chow Fried Rice 扬州炒饭

Yang Chow Fried Rice is a Chinese-style wok fried rice dish. At first bite, the fried rice has strong flavours in each ingredient that can be tasted vividly. The rice was really soft and chewy as well.

Longevity Stir Fried Noodle 干捞长寿面

Longevity Stir Fried Noodles - just like the name suggests - symbolises longevity. It is also known as long life noodles. The noodles were firm, chewy and adding a splash of lime added flavor and zest to the noodles.

Broccoli w Braised Scallops 芥兰花带子

For this dish, I really enjoyed the scallops. It has a soft texture and is super easy to bite on. The broccolis were also soft and cooked well. This dish was super addictive as I found myself going for more!

Signature Crispy Prawn Rolls 潮汕虾枣

If you have not tried this particular dish before, you have to try it. If you don’t already know, the Signature Crispy Prawn Rolls is also known as Ngoh Hiang. I really enjoyed this dish as well as it isn’t too fried and doesn’t taste very oily which made me constantly reach out for more!

Pan Fried Spicy Prawns 干香辣虾碌

Hock Hoe Heng was generous with their spicy sauce when pan frying, hence each and every prawn is equally coated which makes each bite delicious. Moreover, for those who can’t take spicy food well, I can guarantee that it’s not very spicy.

Sweet & Sour Fish Fillet 酸甜鱼片

If I had to describe this dish in one word, it’ll be ‘yummy’. The sweet and sour sauce really complements well with the tender fish. If you would like some crunch, eat the fish with the vegetables together!

Longan w Sea Coconut 龙眼海底椰

Lastly, end your feast with Longan w Sea Coconut as a refreshing dessert. I personally love to eat longan, so this dish is definitely a yes for me! The sea coconut is also very soft when bitten in it. This dessert soup is overall very cooling, which is the perfect dish to end your meal.

The best dish this time for me will be the Signature Crispy Prawn Rolls! I think I ate more than 10 pieces and I honestly don’t regret the calories. I also personally really enjoyed the sweet and sour sauce that comes with the fish fillet, and I suggest that you dip it with other dishes such as the scallop with broccoli and prawn rolls! It’s really delicious!
