takes on all the intense tropical aromatics of coconut, chiles and spice. This protein dish is soft and spoon-tender and as it enters your mouth, it melts as you sink your teeth into the meat. Rating: 5/5
3. Ayam Lemak Padi (Chicken in Coconut Milk)
If you are a fan of the comforting tastes of Thai green curry or Thai cuisine itself, then you are going to love the delicious Ayam Masak Lemak Cili Padi where chicken, spice and creamy comes as one! Rating: 4/5
4. Paru (Beef Lungs)
While the Paru was a little off putting at the start, it has a nice and savoury beef taste. Many of my colleagues appreciate this dish a lot more than me! So, if you know how to enjoy this dish, I am sure this is essential to your Nasi Padang. Rating: 4/5
5. Ikan Kering (Salted Fish)
Next, though it carries a very heavy and strong smell, this dried fish adds that extra zest to the whole experience! Rating: 4/5
6. Sambal Goreng
This protein-rich dish consists of long beans, beancurd and spices mixed together. As a person with an average level of spice tolerant, this dish was surprisingly manageable and went super well with the white rice! Rating: 5/5
7. Urap (Bean Sprouts & Long Bean coconut salad)
This Indonesian salad made with bean sprouts and long beans and garnished with coconut topping serves as a lighter dish in this feast. It had an interesting mix of taste where the greens were savoury and the coconut was sweet. Rating: 5/5
8. Terung Belado (Brinjal in Belado Sauce)
The Belado Sauce has a very unique and rich flavour to it. It is an interesting spice mixture of spiciness and sour taste to it. Poured over the soft and tender Brinjal, this dish was definitely one of my favourites! Rating: 5/5
9. Tempe Sambal (Crispy Fermented Soy Cake with Anchovies)
The next dish called the Tempre Sambal had a lot of things going on. The fermented soy cake was sweet spicy, fried until crunchy, nutty, and irresistibly toasty! Rating: 5/5
10. Begedil (Potato Cutlet)
The Begedil was something more common for me and something I was very much more interested in. You cannot go wrong with the Begedil and true enough, this one was tasty like you would have expected. Rating: 5/5
11. Serunding (Spiced Grated Coconut)
The Serunding was very inviting and as a side dish, this brings a sweet, fiery and hot taste to compliment the rice! Rating: 5/5

Last but not least, what is a Nasi Padang without some Sambal Belacan. This ingredient was key to the dish that finally brings everything together when you mix the dishes on your spoon. Rating 5/5
