Latest Safe Management Measures (SMM) - Can we finally have buffets at our events?!
Good news! Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has just announced the further easing of measures for full buffets/self-serving buffets, and it is definitely big news for both caterers and consumers. Read on to find out how you can finally enjoy a delicious spread with your family and friends, and at the same time keep it within the guidelines for your next event!
Household Events
For household events like Mother's Day, Hari Raya, or even birthdays, the good news is that there is no longer a limit on the number of visitors you can invite to your home. This means that you're allowed to have mini buffets, so go ahead and call all your friends over for some amazing food and drinks! If you would like to cater for more people and order a full buffet, do note that self-serving buffets are now allowed if the caterer prepares 2 bottles of hand sanitizers (at least 60% alcohol) or disposable gloves. If the caterers are unable to provide them, you will need to ensure that there are servers from the caterers (at an additional cost). Corporate Events
Good news! There is no more capacity limited for corporate events, weddings, and funerals and according to the latest SMM advisory, food and drinks consumed at these events no longer need to be served in individual portions which means that you no longer need to cater bentos if you feel that you would like to indulge in a full buffet instead. However, self-serving buffets are only allowed if the caterer provides 2 bottles of hand sanitizers (at least 60% alcohol) or disposable gloves. If the caterers are unable to provide them, you may hire servers from caterers at an additional cost.
