Mr BCM Review - Classic Comfort Food!
Did you know that Singapore's Bak Chor Mee was once listed as the top world street food by World Street Food Congress? I'm personally a huge fan of bcm because of how simple yet flavourful it is! Recently, Mr BCM has kindly sent over a few of their ala carte dishes for us to review! Read on to find out how they fared. You can order from Mr BCM here!
1. Signature Noodle (Dry)
The noodles were springy and al dente, tossed in a savoury sauce. It comes with meatball, fried wanton and minced pork. The entire combination was pleasant! The firm bite of the noodle plus the robust sauce was just *chef's kiss*!
2. Minced Pork Noodle (Soup)
Sick of the long queues at Bedok? Get this instead! I thought that the bite and texture of the noodles was spot-on. Add more chilli if you want your soup to have that extra kick!
3. Handmade Pork Ball Noodle (Dry)
What works for its noodle is its balance of sauces, just the right proportion of vinegary goodness and spiciness from the chilli. Ingredients were generous, pork balls were prepared just nice and firm.
4. Dumpling Noodle (Soup)
I love its nostalgic taste and fresh ingredients! The dish came with a generous amount of noodles and dumplings. The dumpling had tender skin and a delicious filling, and the skin to meat ratio was perfect!
5. Chicken Katsu Noodle
There are lots of wonderful textures to this dish, from the crunchy strips of crispy chicken katsu to the springy noodles. The katsu was thick and juicy, breaded evenly and fried to golden perfection. On the other hand, the noodle was al dente without the taste of alkali!
6. Pork Ball Soup + Rice
The thing that drew me in was the clear soup! It looked deceivingly light but was really flavourful. It had that amazing sweet tinge. The pork balls had a great QQ texture and paired really well with rice. I finished the rice almost instantly!
7. Chicken Katsu Rice Set
Similar to the other katsu dish, each slice of chicken held a loud crunch, despite us leaving it out for a while for the photoshoot. They were thick and juicy, without being too oily.
