Covid-19: Crowd control & further measures at supermarkets, malls, wet markets

Covid-19: Crowd control & further measures at supermarkets, malls, wet markets

If you don't already know, crowd control has been implemented on 4 popular markets and they are:

    • Blk 104/105 Yishun Ring Road (Chong Pang Market & Food Centre)
    • Geylang Serai Market
    • Block 20 / 21 Marsiling Lane
    • Block 505 Jurong West Street 52

For the above markets, entry will be granted based on the last digit of your NRIC,

    • If your NRIC ends with an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, 8), you are only allowed entry on even dates of the month.
    • If your NRIC ends with an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9), you can only visit the markets on odd dates of the month.

In addition, temperature screening and particulars will be collected at supermarkets, malls and wet markets.

These measures are implemented to help reduce crowd for these places and there will be officers and personnel around to regulate that on-site so please bring along your NRIC, or any other official photo ID with barcode for scanning (eg. Driver's License, Passion Card etc.)

Let's do our part to help #flattenthecurve. Although the recent Covid-19 cases did drop a little but we should never be complacent and should always do our part to prevent the spread. You can do your part by practising the following (quoted from MOH):

    • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell or showing symptoms of illness.
    • Observe good personal hygiene.
    • Practise frequent hand washing with soap. (e.g. before handling food or eating, after going to toilet, or when hands are dirtied by respiratory secretions after coughing or sneezing)
    • Wear a mask if you need to leave your house.
    • Cover your mouth with a tissue paper when coughing or sneezing, and dispose the soiled tissue paper in the rubbish bin immediately.
    • Seek medical attention promptly if you are feeling unwell.

We should also stay home as much as possible unless it is to make essential trips (such as to get groceries, important health appointments etc).

Be part of the solution — stay home, stay safe
Minister for Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli
