Deepavali Mini Buffet/Catering - On & On Diners Review
So many things to do, so little time! How about ordering catering for your guests this Deepavali? On & On Diners has specially put together a Deepavali Mini Buffet menu to celebrate this Festival of Lights with all our Hindu friends.
We were pleased to receive a set of the Deepavali Mini Buffet to try!

These were the dishes put together by the team at On & On Diners for us,
• Nasi Briyani with Sultanas
• Maggie Goreng
• Gobi Fry 65
• Chicken Kebab
• Butter Chicken
• Fish Tikka
• Tandoori Prawn
• Curry Samosa
• Slice Honey Cake
• Chilled Iced Jelly with Fruit Cocktail
Nasi Briyani with Sultanas

The Nasi Briyani with Sultanas was a dish well-loved by all of us. The grains were firm to the bite and not too oily. The grains were very fragrant and you could taste the herbs and spices used in them like cumin seeds, cardamom etc. The butter chicken (which I'll go into later) went really well with the Nasi Briyani too.

Maggie Goreng

The noodles were flavourful and I liked that On & On Diners has chosen to use a good amount of vegetables for this dish. However, I personally found the noodles a little too oily for my liking. Nevertheless, the noodles were still a pretty tasty dish to have.

Tandoori Prawn

True to the spirit of tandoori-cooked dishes, these tandoori prawns had a slight smokiness and spicy kick to them. The prawns tasted fresh and were succulent. The best thing about this dish? The prawns were deshelled, making eating these prawns a breeze. However, I felt the prawns were lacking a bit on flavours and could come off as bland for some.

Curry Samosa

The samosas were polished off by the team really quickly. They were still crispy when we received them and were a real joy to have.

Butter Chicken

I found the appearance of the Butter Chicken quite unsettling and was a little apprehensive to try it. However, after digging into this dish, I thought my initial concerns were unfounded. This dish, to me, was the highlight of the entire buffet spread! Chicken cubes were used instead of the usual chicken parts for the ease and convenience of eating and I really liked that. It was slightly on the salty side but packed with flavours, making this dish a great complement to the Nasi Briyani.

Fish Tikka

To be honest, I seriously have no idea what was used to marinate the Fish Tikka but one thing for sure, they were rather tasty although they were a little on the salty side for me. They were great as a side dish with the staples.

Gobi Fry 65

The Gobi Fry 65 dish is essentially deep-fried battered cauliflower. These were nice small bites to have as snacks. However, as they have been sitting around for a while, they felt a little greasy and heavy to have when cold. We decided to heat them up in the air fryer and they were so delicious to have!

Slice Honey Cake

These slices of honey cake were light, fluffy and moist. They were enjoyable.

Chilled Iced Jelly with Fruit Cocktail

A truly refreshing treat to have given the warm weather this food tasting was held in. I like how generous On & On Diners is with the fruits and jellies in this one.
