Foods that Cause Gas and Bloating

Have you ever encountered this issue where your body starts releasing gases abruptly at places you least expected? Perhaps at a meeting, cinema, or library? This can be avoided by understanding the types of food that cause gas and bloating. For starters, the release of passing gas is a normal phenomenon as our body does it to release gas that is trapped within the gut. However, if there's too much gas in your gut, you would not be able to control the release of gas which can lead to embarrassing moments. Here are some foods that cause gas and bloating which you might want to avoid on important days!

Beans

One of the factors that causes gas is when the food is difficult to break down. Beans contain raffinose, a high amount of complex sugar that the body isn’t able to break down easily. In addition, beans are also rich in fiber which can also contribute to additional gassiness in the gut. If you still want to incorporate beans into your diet while limiting the amount of gas produced, you can soak them in water before cooking them. This will help to reduce the gas from the beans effectively!

Onions

Onions are commonly found in many dishes as they're versatile and goes well with other ingredients. You might find yourself releasing lots of gas after eating onions as onion contains fructose. Fructose is a type of sugar that is normally found within fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. When the intestine starts breaking down fructose during digestion, the sugar will cause gas to form. As a result, there will be excessive gas in your intestines which will then be released as passing gas.

Wheat and other whole grains

Similar to beans, wheat, and other whole grains contain raffinose in them along with large amounts of fiber. Both raffinose and fiber can lead to additional gas and bloating in the gut.

In conclusion, excessive release of gases from your gut is normally caused by the food that you consume. By avoiding some of these foods listed in this article, on important days, it can help you to avoid some embarrassing moments!
