https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZhAfRQHoic&feature=youtu.be
Specialising in Durian-flavoured desserts, did you know that Four Seasons Restaurant also caters a variety of tze char style dishes? One of their dishes is also injected with a tinge of durian flavour, so for all the durian lovers out there, this is for you.
Note: This mini buffet menu is available for a min. of 5 pax so you don’t have to worry about the social gathering restriction!
Kamgpong Durian Fried Rice

A unique blend of durian and fried rice, the Kamgpong Durian Fried Rice is both sweet and savoury. You may also find yourself chewing on some durian flesh when you take a bite, so for the ones who really love durians, this might be something you would like to try. I’m not a fan of durians, but I’m not a hater either so this was personally okay for me and even though I wouldn’t find myself craving for this, I’d still have it if someone orders it. Overall, this is definitely something interesting to have once in a while!

Stir Fry Bee Hoon with Dried Shrimp

The bee hoon may look plain, but with the dried shrimps the simple taste of the Stir Fry Bee Hoon was elevated and had more depth, resulting in a flavourful dish. A complete opposite of taste from the Kampong Durian Fried Rice, if you’re looking for a lighter and simpler staple, this is perfect for you.

Sze Chuan Fried Chicken

The Sze Chuan Fried Chicken was a balanced combination of salty, sweet and spicy which I absolutely loved. The gravy was full of flavour but light, which did not hinder me from enjoying the taste of the tender chicken.

Indonesian Lemongrass Chicken

Definitely a hidden gem, the Indonesian Lemongrass Chicken is actually one of my favourite dishes from this menu! I was actually quite sceptical at first, but even after hours of photoshoot this chicken still tasted quite yummy and savoury! The aroma of lemongrass was fragrant, the meat was tender and packed with flavours. My only regret was not having this immediately after it was delivered to us because it would have definitely tasted much nicer.

Prawn Paste Chicken

Of course, what would tze char be without Prawn Paste Chicken? Tender with a good amount of batter, the Prawn Paste Chicken is delish and umami, which had a pleasant savoury taste that will keep all Prawn Paste Chicken fans going. I’m not a fan of Prawn Paste Chicken, so having one or two is enough for me, but for the rest of colleagues who are fans of this dish definitely had more than me.

Sweet & Sour Fried Fish

The Sweet & Sour Fried Fish had a good balance of sweet and sour, and when consumed with the slightly crisp fish, it was actually quite pleasant. However, I’m not easily bought with sweet and sour fish dishes so I felt that the fish could be a little more flavourful.

Tomato Omelette

Yes, one might wonder, “What’s so good about this?” at first sight but let me tell you that this Tomato Omelette is the epitome of the phrase ‘Do not judge a book by its cover’. I was quite surprised when I first had it because even though it looks ordinary, it is actually quite yummy! Something about this dish feels really homey to me and having it warm with the Stir Fried Bee Hoon with Dried Shrimps (or even just plain rice), it’s delicious!

Stir Fry Xiao Bai Cai with Carrots

A great dish to have for a healthy and nutritious meal, the Stir Fry Xiao Bai Cai with Carrots is light but a great pairing for the staples Four Seasons Restaurant has to offer!

Home Made Crispy Seafood Tofu

Another interesting dish from Four Seasons Restaurant, the Home Made Crispy Seafood Tofu is crisp on the outside and soft inside, which gives dimension and texture to the tofu. What I love about this dish is that it brings the flat and simple taste of tofu to another level, making the taste of tofu appetizing and enjoyable! For the perfect experience, dip it with the sweet Thai chili sauce!

Mapo Tofu

As a fan of Mapo Tofu, this definitely did not disappoint me. The tofu was silky, the gravy had the perfect mix of sweet, salty, sour and a tinge of spicy, which made the dish overall packed with flavours and delectable. The Mapo Tofu is one dish you need to include into your list!

Sambal Kang Kong

If you’re not a fan of the Stir Fry Xiao Bai Cai with Carrots and want something with a kick, why not try the Sambal Kang Kong? The kang kong is boiled perfectly so it’s not too hard when you chew on it, and I like that the sambal is spicy enough for that kick you’re looking for.

Oyster Omelette (top up)

Fresh and big oysters on a thick omelette topped with a layer of flavourful gravy, the Oyster Omelette hits all the right notes for an oyster omelette lover like me! Four Seasons Restaurant was also generous with their oysters, so you can enjoy this while knowing that you won’t need to fight for oysters with your family and friends.

Curry Fish Head (top up)

The Curry Fish Head is another surprising dish for me, as after hours of the photoshoot the meat still tasted fresh and tender. The gravy had a thicker consistency than the other Curry Fish Head dishes out there and even had a slight tangy flavour, which reminded me of Assam Fish Head which was actually quite yummy for me. For the ones who are health conscious though, the gravy could be a little too oily for your liking.

Overall rating: 4.5/5
It was honestly an enjoyable experience with Four Seasons Restaurant’s mini buffet menu! What sets them apart from other tze char restaurants is that their unique dishes may sound strange but are actually quite yummy. If you’re bored with the ordinary tze char dishes, why not try something new and give Four Seasons Restaurant a chance?
