How to differentiate female/ male crabs?

Are you a seafood lover? I am one! Did you know that crab meat is rich in vitamins, minerals and also low in fat and contains Omega-3 polyunsaturated acids. It also helps to provide protection from heart disease an aids brain development.

When choosing crabs, it is a fairly straightforward proposition, some say female meat tastes sweeter but many shy away from eating female crabs to encourage reproduction.

The gender of the crab is very easy to distinguish:

1. Male crabs have a narrow candle looking shape on the underside of their shell.
2. Female crabs have a wide ball looking shape on the back of their shell.
3. The claws of male crab are blue.
4. Female crabs have red-tipped claws.
