How To Store Bananas

How To Store Bananas

  • Remember to choose your bananas based on their degree of ripeness. It really depends on when you want to use them. If you planning to use it next week, you may want to go for the greener bananas which means they are not ripe yet. Green bananas are the most ideal bananas to maximize storage life without freezing.
  • If you are getting it for your whole family for immediate consumption, you can consider ripe bananas which is in yellow colour.
  • Also, avoid bananas that have a grey tint and look dull in colour. This shows that the bananas were refrigerated before.

Storing Green Bananas

  • Remove bananas from plastic bag as soon as you get home.

Why? Putting them in plastic bags can hold too much moisture and cause fruit to rot.

  • If your banana is green, store them at room temperature

If you put it in the refrigerator or freeze the bananas before they ripen, it will take even longer to ripe even after bringing it back to room temperature

If you want to speed up the ripening process, you can put your green bananas into a brown paper bag.

Storing Ripe Bananas

  • Pull the bananas apart from the bunch

If your bananas are pretty ripe, then you can keep them fresh and yellow for longer by pulling each banana away from the bunch.

  • What to do if your bananas are overripe?

You can make banana bread, which is a delicious treat to use your overripe bananas. You do not have to waste a tasty bunch of bananas! To make bananas bread, you only need bananas, nuts, flour, eggs, butter and cinnamon.

I hope these few tips will be helpful!

Till then, take care and stay safe!
