KCK Food Catering has kindly offered us a 5-day trial dinner package for 2 pax, with either three dishes and a soup, or four dishes. Dishes in the menus are low in MSG, salt and oil, and we received different dishes daily. Here's what we got to say about the dishes:

Of all the dishes served today, my favourite dish was the Fish Fillet with Mango Sauce. The fish fillet was not overly oily, and the fillet was still firm and fresh. Surprisingly, the fish fillet was tossed with the mango sauce, a rare combination but nonetheless it was welcomed. The mango sauce was tangy and tart, a very refreshing and interesting taste! The Sambal Eggplant was also not bad. Normally I avoid dishes like eggplant because they tend to get too soggy and soak up too much fluid, but since KCK Food Catering uses less oil in their dishes, the dish was not too greasy, and you can taste the sambal spice well! It wasn't overly spicy either, and tasted really yummy together with the eggplant.
We also enjoyed the Stir Fried Celery with Seafood. The celery and carrot slices was fresh and crunchy to taste. Seafood like crab sticks were also added to enhance the flavour and bring vibrancy to the dish. Seaweed and Fish Ball soup was also served along with the main dishes. The comforting bowl of soup is rich in flavour but light in broth. I am quite sensitive to MSG content in hawker food, as I get thirsty right after, so I was glad that the meal did not leave me thirsty.
KCK Food Catering also provided us with complimentary desserts for the week, Ice Jelly with Fruit Cocktail. ?

There were 4 dishes served today! The Hawaiian Omelette, or Omelette with Chopped Onion wasn't too bad. The onion not only enhances the fragrance of the omelette dish, but also make the eggs taste pleasantly sweet. We were also served Fish with Tomato and Mushrooms. The fish was firm and did not taste fishy at all. Steaming the fish with the tomatoes and mushrooms made this a really healthy dish to boot.
Western Styled Stewed Chicken was also served, a dish I personally enjoy the most. This dish was really tasty, and the stew was not salty or MSG laden either. The chicken chunks were also cooked with onions and carrots, which gave the stew a tinge of sweetness. The vegetables for the day were Long Beans with Carrots. As the vegetables remained crunchy and fresh, we polished off the dish easily. What I also like about the meals were that the serving was just right for 2 pax, but not overly heavy on the tummy. ?

Sambal Kangkong is probably my MUST-ORDER vegetable dish whenever I order at the Tze Char stall. Especially when it's stir fried with sambal belacan, a sauce made from chilli, dried shrimp and shallots. We were impressed by the aroma and tastes of this particular dish and gobbled it down with warm rice quickly. The Fried Wonton was packed full of meat fillings, although it was a bit soggy when we had it. It wasn't too bad, the meat fillings were not salty, and went well with the rest of the dishes.
On the other hand, the Chicken Stew is different from what was served the previous day. This dish was lightly stewed, absent of other vegetables, and the chicken chunks were firm yet soft to bite. The savory and light brown sauce from the stew can also be poured over some warm rice. This dish reminded me of my Mom's braised chicken with mushroom. Lastly, we were also served with Sliced Fish Soup, with fish slices, vegetables and carrots cooked together. The clear soup was light and nourishing, that warms up the soul. I wanted more after finishing the entire bowl on my own. ?

It's been great the past few days, and we are reaching the end of the trial. ? Today, we were served mostly fried food, such as the Breaded Fish Chips and Mini Wantons. The Breaded Fish Chips was really yummy! The chips were thick chunks of fillets that were slightly breaded and then deep fried to perfection. I enjoyed this dish with the tartar sauce provided. The Fried Chicken Meat Pocket were similar to those yesterday, but much smaller.
The Buttered Prawn with Garlic was so memorable, I could still remember the taste it till today. The shrimp was sauteed in butter with lots of garlic that gives the dish the sweet flavour. Prawns were fresh and firm, and the butter taste seeped into the flesh of the prawn. This is another mouth-watering dish that is we truly savoured. From the crunchy stems to the tender florets which soaks up all the Abalone sauce, Broccoli lightens up the whole dish and when paired with the soft mushrooms, leaves one craving for more!

We've finally reached the last day of the trial, completed with 4 dishes. The Braised Chicken with Ginger was different from the usual, dark soy sauce was not added to make the gravy. Nonetheless, the chicken was braised well, and the portions generous even for 2. Fish fillet was also fried and coated with Thai Sweet Chili sauce, sticky sweet, with a tint of orange colour that goes so well on fried food! (I even dipped the spring rolls into the sauce!) Cabbage, Carrots and Bok Choy made up the Sauteed 3 Colour Vegetables. The veggies were crunchy and vibrant, not soggy or salty at all.
Overall, we really enjoyed the trial dishes, which were cooked with little or no processed ingredients, and still tasted like home-cooked food. A variety of dishes were given - from seafood to veggies and chicken and an assortment of cooking styles were also presented - from steaming to deep frying and stews. A 10 days trial for 2 pax (3 dishes + soup or 4 dishes) goes for $120/pax. If you're keen to start your trial with KCK Food Catering, wait no further!
