Om Nom Taste of Thai Review - Prosperity Yusheng!

Chinese New Year reunions aren’t complete without Yusheng. The Chinese believe that you should toss the Yusheng while saying auspicious wishes as it brings forth good health and good luck for the upcoming new year. As Chinese New Year approaches, many restaurants are trying to differentiate themselves by serving up different renditions of the Yusheng! And recently, Om nom Taste of Thai sent us 2 "fusion" renditions of the Yusheng for us to review. They are:
- Fruity Prosperity Yusheng
- Thai Prosperity Yusheng

We received the Yusheng in its perfect condition. No ingredients were shaken up during delivery, with the different ingredients still seated nicely on their "spots". So, back to the Yusheng! I personally felt that Om Nom Taste of Thai had done a really great job in selecting the right ingredients for their Yusheng! For example, adding the red sweetened ginger stripes and the sweetened lime stripes created a really vibrant and refreshing Yusheng that was also very aesthetically pleasing at the same time.
Oh yes! The baby abalones are an optional add-on but we highly recommend you opt in for that! The abalones added a natural "seafood sweetness" that went very well with the plethora of vegetables. For just $16.90, you will receive 6 pieces, which I feel is definitely worth it! The abalones are bite-sized and are tender while still maintaining a bit of a chew. You could taste the slightly salty natural flavour and that tinge of natural sweetness that you get from seafood!

Overall I feel that the 2 Yusheng’s were pretty similar in taste. I love how the sweet Thai sauce brought all the ingredients together and made the whole dish so flavourful and refreshing to have. And not to forget the best part, the abalones, when coated with the sauce, yummy! Check our Om Nom Taste of Thai HERE for more CNY menus!
