Petite Bakehouse Review – Tasty and Healthy Pastries for Everyday

We’re all aware that we will need to pay the price for indulging in desserts if we don’t watch ourselves. The amount of sugar, oil and eggs that usually go into baking these goodies are no joke. However, it’s a different case at Petite Bakehouse! Their baked goodies are made from scratch daily with lesser sugar and oil used. Now, we can munch onto these yummy desserts with lesser guilt!

Petite Bakehouse had kindly sent us 3 of their delicious baked goodies for us to try!

Petite Sourdough Buns

The impression I had of Sourdough buns is that they’re usually not flavoured so that we can taste the original tangy flavour of it. So, when I heard that we are going to try these flavoured sourdough buns, I was really excited to give them a try! We were given all the flavours that they offer. 3 flavours each for their sourdough buns and eggless sourdough buns. Don’t be shocked by their bright and vibrant colours! These colours were as a result of using natural and fresh ingredients and no colour additives were added.  For instance, the orange coloured sourdough bun is a carrot raisin sourdough bun. The usage of carrots added the natural orange colour to it.

We tried their 100% sourdough buns first, which were the Beetroot, Green Tea and Carrot Raisins buns. Initially, I was worried that the flavours might overpower the tartness of the sourdough. But they didn’t! All the flavours were very mild and didn’t overpower the bun itself which I love. Personally, my favourite is the Green Tea sourdough bun. I liked how a slight green tea after-taste lingers in my mouth after every bite. A green tea fan in our team also approves of this Green Tea sourdough bun!

I initially thought that the texture of the eggless sourdough buns would be much denser. I was wrong about that! They tasted like the normal sourdough buns – light yet tangy! The flavours of these eggless sourdough buns are Flaxseed, Purple Sweet Potatoes and Charcoal. Among all 3 flavours, I prefer the Flaxseed bun the most. It’s classic and there’s a good texture when munching because of the generous use of flaxseeds in it. A slap of butter or fruit jam would go great with it!

Vegan Crumbcakes

These crumbcakes were such a guilty pleasure to indulge in because of the sugary goodness on top. But knowing these yummy cakes from Petite Bakehouse are eggs and dairy free made me feel less guilty when eating these. There are 4 flavours – the classic Vanilla, chocolatey Cocoa, earthy Beetroot and aromatic Green Tea. Of all the flavours, my favourite has got to be the Cocoa crumbcake. To me, it tasted very similar to a brownie, which I really love. The chocolatey taste wasn’t too overwhelming too. My second favourite would have to be the Green Tea crumbcake. Like their Green Tea sourdough bun, the green tea taste from the crumbcake lingered in my mouth after taking a bite, making me want to go back for more!

Organic Cookies

Petite Bakehouse also sent us 4 different flavours of eggless cookies that were handmade with love and organic ingredients. Knowing organic ingredients were used really made the guilt of indulging in these cookies lessen by quite a bit!

Eggless Organic Rock Buns

These old-fashioned rock bun cookies with currants were something that I had never tried before. Petite Bakehouse surely didn’t skimp with their currants as I could taste the currants with every bite. The buttery texture and sweet earthy taste of the currants truly complemented each other well. I enjoyed these cookies a lot.

Eggless Organic Double Chocolate Cookies

These cookies were definitely my favourite out of all the flavours we received. Being a chocolate lover, I certainly was not disappointed by their take of these double chocolate cookies. Their double chocolate cookies weren’t too sweet, which really surprises me as double chocolate cookies are usually packed with sweetness. The chocolatey taste was just right, and the first bite made me want to go back for more!

Eggless Organic Peanut Butter

If you are a peanut butter lover, these are the cookies made for you. These cookies were the crunchiest among all and you could really taste the crunchy peanuts with every bite. I thought I was eating peanut butter directly from the jam bottle. I personally found them a little too sweet to my liking but they were a big hit among our team members!

Eggless Organic Oatmeal Chippers

The black horse in the four cookies. Just the right amount of crunchiness, not too heavy and floury which made them much easier to eat more of. These cookies also had a mild cinnamon taste to it which balanced the sweetness of the chocolate chips.

In all, we really enjoyed the buns and pastries sent by Petite Bakehouse. Not only were they healthy, they also tasted very yummy. Great for everyday breakfast and tea time snacks!
