Recently, we got to try this special menu of theirs which consisted of the following dishes:

- Shanghai Souring Crunchy Fish
- Gulam Chicken with Indian Spices
- Fresh Tomato Fried Egg
- Melaka Nyonya Chap Chye
- Spring Roll (Vegetarian)
- Vanilla Profiteroles
QQ Gua Zai Meat Fried Rice (Vegetarian)

Firstly, we got to try QQ’s Gua Zai Meat Fried Rice. We were slightly disappointed as the rice was slightly dry and clumpy, which could be due to the delivery process. The peas were also slightly hard and under-cooked. However, we felt the fried rice was more appetizing when drizzled with the Chap Chye sauce, which made it less dry and more flavorful. The fried onion garnishing on the Fried Rice also made the dish more aromatic and flavorful.

Shanghai Souring Crunchy Fish

These bite-sized pieces of this Crunchy Fish made this dish both good to go with the main dish, or also as a starter dish! The Shanghai fish was soft, tender and slightly juicy. The special sweet sour sauce dip complemented the fish really well. One slight downside was that the fried outer batter of the fish was slightly soggy and the fish lacked the extra crunch.

Gulam Chicken with Indian Spices

Aroma filled the room the moment we lifted the lid and we were so excited to try out this dish! The chicken pieces were very well marinated and the Indian Spices added an extra burst of flavor to the overall dish. One improvement that could be made could perhaps be an addition of some sauce or gravy to go with the chicken. This would help make the chicken more moist and tender and slightly less dry.

Fresh Tomato Fried Egg

Another dish that we got to try was the Fresh Tomato Fried Egg. The egg was cooked to perfection - fluffy and well seasoned. The egg was also able to absorb the essence from the juicy tomatoes that were partially dissolved due to the heat of the wok. Even though it seems like a simple dish, the juicy tomatoes mingled with softly scrambled eggs makes it a perfect dish that would complement a bowl of rice. We highly recommend that this dish is consumed hot!

Melaka Nyonya Chap Chye

We also got to try the Melaka Nyonya Chap Chye which was highly appetizing. It consisted of ingredients such as mushrooms, black fungus, carrots, vermicelli, cabbage and bean curd skin. With the variety of ingredients, it not only enhanced the flavor of the overall dish, but it also added more textures to it. The gravy had a slightly thick consistency which we felt was perfect as it clung onto each piece of ingredient well, and had a balance of flavors. This dish definitely reminded us of good old home-cooked dishes that will leave you salivating!

Spring Roll (Vegetarian)

Another one of popular picks among the spread would be these Vegetarian Spring Rolls. The filling of the spring roll was very aromatic and was generously filled with vegetables such as carrots, turnip, and others, that made the dish naturally sweet. However, one downside to the dish would be that the outer layer of the spring roll was slightly soggy and chewy, and would have been better if it had more crunch to it. Nonetheless, these mini bite-sized spring rolls were easy to consume like finger-food and was quickly devoured by the team

Vanilla Profiteroles

One of the highlights of the spread would be these gorgeous and fluffy Vanilla Profiteroles. The caterer was very thoughtful to have delivered these profiteroles frozen, as it allowed them to slowly thaw during the delivery process. This allowed the cream inside the puff to have a perfectly soft and silky consistency by the time it reached us, and at the same time was still cold. This dessert was also not too sweet and was generously filled with fresh cream that was highly addictive. We highly recommend that this dish is eaten cold!
