Raffles Treats Review - Feast on some mouth-watering layers of Pen Cai goodness this Chinese New Year!

Gather and bond with your loved ones over a delicious pot of Pen Cai this Chinese New Year. The upcoming festive season would not be complete without the usual traditional Chinese delicacies that can be found within this dish.

Recently, we were blessed to be delivered a large scrumptious bowl of Pen Cai from Raffles Treats. Before we start talking about the dish itself, can we just mention how thoughtful the caterer was in choosing a beautifully elegant looking hotpot that fits the festive occasion.

Within the pot, it included must-have dishes during the lunar new year such as abalone, braised mushroom, fish, braised pork, vegetables, sea cucumber, prawns, braised duck and many more.

This indulgent affair was made up of several layers of seafood, vegetarian and meat ingredients which were braised and coated in a fragrant gravy. Often eaten during Chinese New Year, this festive dish is known to symbolize abundance and prosperity.

The moment we opened the lid of the Pen Cai, we were surprised at just how beautifully decorated the pot of ingredients were! Furthermore, the more we dug into the pot, we realised just how generous Raffles Treats was with every ingredient.

All of us were amazed at how well cooked and seasoned each ingredient was! The seafood such as the abalone and prawns were so fresh and succulent as well! The only suggestion we have for this dish would be for the gravy to have a little more starch added to it. This way, the gravy will be slightly thicker in consistency and be able to coat every piece of ingredient better. Nonetheless, we were all very pleased with the entire dish and highly recommend all of you readers to give it a try too!
