San Gu Ma Review - Dim Sum Platter
Recently, we are delighted to be able to receive a Dim Sum Platter(Set A4) from San Gu Ma Dian Xin. The caterer has specially put together this menu to celebrate Mother's Day. It will also remain as an ongoing menu even after the Mother's day promotion ends.
The moment we opened the lid to the platter, a fragrant aroma filled the room which left us all salivating and exciting to dig in!

The Dim Sum Platter Set A4(Serves 15 pax), consists of:

- Steamed Siew Mai 鲜虾蒸烧卖 18pcs
- Steamed Chive Crystal Dumplings 韭菜水晶包 18pcs
- Salted Egg Custard Buns 蛋黄流沙包 18pcs
- Honey Glazed Char Siew Buns 蜜汁叉烧包 18pcs
- Fried Golden Wonton 金元宝云吞 18pcs
- Crispy Red Bean Paste with Banana 三味香酥饼18pcs
- Mozzarella Cheese and Ham Spring Roll 芝士炸春卷 18pcs

Steamed Crystal Prawn Dumplings 水晶蒸虾饺 18pcs
If you’re a fan of “Har Gao”, you have got to try this item! The caterer is generous in wrapping a large piece of prawn in each piece of dumpling. The prawns were all very fresh and well seasoned. The crystal outer-skin of the dumpling had a perfect texture to it that had a balance of both a soft and chewy texture. This was highly favoured by majority of our colleagues!

Steamed Chive Crystal Dumplings 韭菜水晶包 18pcs
This Steamed Chive Crystal Dumpling was similar to the prawn dumpling which we first ate. The skin was still very moist although it was left in the open for quite awhile. Similarly, the prawn was well seasoned, juicy and succulent. The chives in the dumpling added an extra aroma, however we felt that the chives were slightly overpowering. This dish could use slightly more prawn fillings to pack the dish with more flavours and texture. Nonetheless, it was still a dish worth trying.

Steamed Siew Mai 鲜虾蒸烧卖 18pcs
At first, we were afraid that this dish would be slightly dry in texture after going through delivery, but we were all pleasantly surprised at how juicy and moist each piece of siew mai was. The outer skin was thin and soft, and each piece had a generous amount of fresh succulent prawn fillings. This is definitely a dish worth the try!

Fried Golden Wonton 金元宝云吞 18pcs
This was one of the popular picks amongst all of us! With a crispy thin crust on the outside, and a generous amount of meat fillings in each piece, it definitely was highly addictive. The filling of the Fried Golden Wanton was also very well seasoned, and we highly recommend that you give it a try yourself!

Salted Egg Custard Buns 蛋黄流沙包 18pcs
Nowadays, it’s all about salted egg custard dishes! If you’re a big fan of this, you have got to try San Gu Ma’s Salted Egg Custard Buns. The moment we sank our teeth in this bun, a generous flow of salted egg yolk custard oozed out. The taste of the custard was well balanced with an intense salted egg flavour, that was both sweet and salty. One slight let down for this dish would be that the texture of the bun was slightly dry, but that could be due to the delivery process. Nonetheless, it was a very tasty dish that deserves a thumbs up!

Honey Glazed Char Siew Buns 蜜汁叉烧包 18pcs
Char Siew Buns is a must have in every dim sum! The char siew filling was sweet and there was a good amount of char siew pieces in the bun. However, one downside was that the ratio of the bun to dough was not balanced, and it would be better if there was more filling. We also felt that the bun was slightly hard and dry on the outside, it would be best if the bun was consumed while hot!

Crispy Red Bean Paste with Banana 三味香酥饼18pcs
This dish was certainly an interesting dish that all of us could not wait to dig in to. The caterer was very creative in fusing together banana and red bean paste, to be encased within a crispy roll. At first, we were afraid that this dish would be slightly on the sweet note, however, it had a perfect balance of sweetness and silky texture to the paste. This dish would definitely be a popular item amongst both children and the elderly!

Mozzarella Cheese and Ham Spring Roll 芝士炸春卷 18pcs
This dish was yet another interesting dish to us. Most of us would associate Mozzarella Cheese and Ham to a western dish, and Spring roll to a Chinese dish. San Gu Ma was bold in creating this fusion dish that combined both the mozzarella cheese and ham to be rolled up in a spring roll. The cheese complemented the dish very well by giving it a creamy texture, whilst the ham gave the extra flavour that made it very tantalizing.
Overall, the spring roll was fried to perfection with its light and crispy texture! This dish would definitely be a favorite among both the young and old!

Phoenix Prawn with Cheese and Ham Kataifi Roll 千丝凤尾虾 (Additional Item)
One of the most raved over item would be this dish right here. It was a rather unique looking dish whereby large fresh pieces of prawns were wrapped together with cheese and ham, and rolled up in a kataifi roll. Kataifi roll looks somewhat like thin crispy noodles, however, it had a buttery taste to it that was highly appetizing. Furthermore, the Kataifi Roll alone had a perfect balance of flavours and crispy texture to it. This dish is a definitely must try!
