With Chinese New Year arriving in less than a month, you must be thinking of how you would go about celebrating it with your friends and family. Shi Fu Ge Catering is here to provide you with the perfect solution in terms of the types of dishes and feast all of you can indulge in.

A couple of days ago, we received a variety of scrumptious dishes from Shi Fu Ge Catering. Shi Fu Catering specializes in providing their customers with savoury renditions of cze-char home-styled cuisines. They also take pride in selecting only the freshest ingredients to be used in their cooking, to ensure that their customers receive quality authentic dishes.

Mini Buffet (10pax) - $15.90/ pax

Mee Goreng 马来面

With just the right amount of spices and herbs soaked into every strand of noodle, the Mee Goreng was certainly a dish that stood out. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the overall dish was packed with bursting flavours. The prawns also gave that extra texture element to the dish and were very fresh! Highly recommended dish!

Rating: 5/5

Thai Style Chicken Chop
泰式鸡扒

Another dish we got to try would be their Thai Style Chicken Chop. This dish was slightly disappointing, however, as the meat was a little hard and dry. Nonetheless, the seasonings were done very well. Furthermore, the sweet Thai-chili sauce provide gave the overall dish the extra kick it needed.

Rating: 3.5/5

Honey Milk Pork Cubes
奶油花肉

The Honey Milk Pork Cubes was easily the winning dish of the entire spread! With a balanced amount of saltiness and sweetness, the honey milk pork cubes were absolutely to-die-for! The pork cubes were well marinated and were very tender. This dish was quickly devoured by the team!

Rating: 5/5

Luo Han Vegetable 罗汉斋

The Luo Han vegetables was also another dish done well by Shi Fu Ge. It definitely was a dish that reminded us of home comfort food. However, we felt that the dish could have done better with more seasonings to enhance the overall flavours.

Rating: 3/5

Cereal Sotong

Who’s a fan of cereals? I know I am! The Cereal Sotong was the few amongst the most preferred dish the other day. The sotongs were fresh and succulent, with a generous amount of cereal toppings that were highly addictive! It was certainly a dish well done! The caterer was also very thoughtful to have cut holes on the lids of the crispy items to ensure that the dish does not become soggy in the process of delivery.

Rating: 5/5

Butter Prawns
牛油

We were all very impressed with how crispy and crunchy these Butter Prawns were! The batter used to coat over the prawns were very flavorful, which led to most of us devouring the entire piece even with the shells on! We recommend for you to give this dish a try yourself!

Rating: 4/5

Salad Fish Fillet
沙律鱼片

Another dish we had the chance to try was the Salad Fish Fillet. Many of us feared that the fish would be slightly on the dry side and have a “fishy” taste lingering in our mouths, however, we were all proven wrong! Not only were the fish slices fresh, soft and tender, the batter coated over it was also simply delicious! The Tartar sauce was also provided on the side for those who would fancy a sauce to go with this dish.

Ala Carte Menu

Curry Fish Head 喱鱼头

Next up, we have Shi Fu Ge’s Curry Fish Head. This dish consisted of a large fish head well marinated in a curry broth. Within the broth, it had several ingredients such as eggplants and vegetables. The only suggestion we would have is for the curry to have been slightly thicker in consistency. Nonetheless, it was still a dish that deserves a thumbs up, as the overall dish packed a punch of flavours from the fusion of the tender fish head, tangy curry gravy and generous amount of ingredients.

Rating: 3.5/5

Vegetable Beancurd (Small) 菜香豆腐

The Vegetable Beancurd was a unique dish we got to try. However, we felt that this dish could have been better if it had slightly more intensity in the flavours. Nonetheless, the beancurd was soft and smooth in texture.

Rating: 3/5

Salted Egg Chicken Cube (Large)

Next, we have the Salted Egg Chicken. Each piece of chicken was cooked to perfection which led to it being tender and juicy. The batter coated over each piece of chicken was not too thick as well, but it managed to ensure that the flavours stuck in the meat.

Rating: 5/5

Fried Mantou *(20pieces) 馒头

Fried to perfection, these Fried Mantous had a crisp texture on the outside and were soft on the inside. They paired very well with the other dishes provided as they were able to soak up all the goodness from the different types of gravy. and sauces.

Rating: 4/5

Prawn Paste Chicken (Large) 虾酱鸡

The Prawn Paste Chicken, also known as “Har Cheong Gai”, was another dish that received much positive feedback from all of us. The chicken wings were cooked to perfection, with a thin crisp outer crust and soft tender juicy meat on the inside. Shi Fu Ge also did well in ensuring that each piece was well coated with the prawn paste. The only let down for this dish, is that it could be slightly saltier and have more intensified prawn paste flavours. Nonetheless, it was still a dish well done and worth trying!

Rating: 3.5/5

Cantonese Sausage Rice (Medium) 腊味

Shi Fu Ge’s Cantonese Sausage Rice was simply delicious! Many were worried the rice would be of a soggy texture after being covered with a lid during delivery, but we were all wrong! The texture of the rice, together with all the ingredients used gave the dish the right balanced amount of saltiness and sweetness. It was certainly a dish that many came back for second servings!

Rating: 5/5

Crab in a Bag Imperial Pot 帝国袋

We were all very excited to dig in into Shi Fu Ge’s Crab in a Bag Imperial Pot. With an abundant variety of seafood such as crabs, prawns, mussels and clams, coated with their lip-smacking salted egg-yolk sauce, it definitely helped to harmonize the dish as a whole. Furthermore, not only were all the seafood fresh and succulent, but Shi Fu Ge Catering was very generous with the amount of each seafood given as well! Get your hands dirty and dig in, into this delicious pot of seafood with your friends and family this Lunar New Year.

Rating: 5/5

Overall, we all had a very enjoyable dining experience with Shi Fu Ge Catering's  scrumptious dishes! We also highly recommend that you give it a try with your loved ones this Lunar New Year!
